Loua (Cache County) ltt3 Seek Spirit Of Utah The Lord, Leaders State Smithfield stake quarterly conference was held Saturday and Sunday under the direction of the new' stake presidency, J. Byron Ravsten, president; Merlin T. Van Orden, first counselor, and Samuel L. Hymas, second coun of the aelor. Walter Dansie church welfare program represented the general authorities. Music for the morning session was presented by the North Cache chorus with Stratford Loosle directing and with Carolyn 1 Si Barker as accompanist. Speakers for the morning and afternoon sessions were members of the stake presidency, stake high councilmen, former presidents of the stake and George G. Nelson of the Logan temple presidency. Points Stressed These thoughts were brought out by the speakers, "No one has monopoly on the spirit of the Lord, "Prayer has Influenced the leaders of our country, "We should all depend upon the spirit of the Lord for inspiration, The spirit reaches those who are in harmony, We as parents should teach our young people to be good Latter-da- y Saints, "The rpiesthood is valuable to us only as we use it, "The Gospel has meant great things to us,' If you always give to the church, you will always havs something to give." Prayers at both sessions were given by bishops of the stake. Music for the afternoon session was given by the Harmony Mens chorus with Stratford Loosle conducting, accompanied by Carolyn Barker at the piano and Ilia McFarland at the organ. The evening program under the direction of the MIA was themed to "Je thou an example. Members from the seven wards of the stake participated. Receipt of applications will close on June 16; salary is $2045. The exam is open to all wno are citizens of, or owe allegiance to the U.S., who reside within the territory supplied by the post office for which this exam is announced, and who are at least 21 years of age. but not yet 65. Application blanks and full information about the requirements of the exam may be secured from the post office for, which this exam is announced. The date of examination will be stated on admission cards mailed to applicants after the close of receipt of applications. Rites Tuesday For Jones Infant Graveside funeral services for Doris Ann Jones, infant daughter of John C. and Doris Dahle Jones, will be conducted Tuesday, 11 a. m., in Logan City cemetery. Friends may call at the Hall Mortuary in Logan Tuesday from 10 a. m. until time of rites. The child died Sunday in a local hospital, following birth. Surviving are her parents, 411 West Sixth North; a brother, Roger C. Jones, and a sister, & ,v fit Tournament. Sorensen, manager of Hotel Eccles, died Saturday at his residence in Ogden, of causes incident to age. He was born April 4, 1861, In Lendenbro, Denmark, a son of Lars Christen and Karen M. Sorensen. He came to Utah in 1863 and was graduated from the University of Deseret in Laila Ingchrcgtscn, Myrna Timmons, Marlene Humphreys, Marian Johnson, Oherryl Pack. Burial will be in Wellsville ceme- tery. Mr. Haslam was born Dee. 9, a son of William H. and Sarah Mitton Haslam. He had lived his entire life in Wellsville. On April 12, 1899, he married Polly Gunnell. She died April 4, 1952. A farmer and cattleman, Mr. Haslam had served a mission to England for the LDS church from 1899 to 1901. He was a Seventy in Hyrum stake and a member of Wellsville First ward. Surviving are five children: 1875, in Wellsville, Henry G. Haslam, is shown in the foreground.
