Show SHOWED THE BIBLE ! INJ NEW LIGHT; Prof. Christian Larson of the Agri-' cultural College, who has been one of j the instructors at the institute at Huntington Hunt-ington this week, came over to the county seat Wednesday night and delivered de-livered a lecture at the hall. Owing to insufficient notice there was a veiy small crowd at the hall, which is to be regretted as the lecture was an exceptionally except-ionally good one.- His subject was: "The Bible From a Literary Standpoint." Stand-point." In the course of his talk he opened the eyes of his hearers to the literary beauties of that much-neglected book and read extracts showing that the bible was the best of an example ex-ample of pure English. He also called attention to the different styles of the text, as prose, poetry, parable, etc. Mr. Larson showed his ability to judge people by reading to his hearers the parts he wanted to impress upon them rather than giving out references to be looked up at leisure. |
