The way I look at it, a service club can be wry successful if only it furnishes a place for service men to sit and relax in an easy chair and feel at home for a little while. Those are two things I miss most a chance to feel at home and a place to relax in an easy chair, If there is one thing a soldier needs when he gits away from his base for a while, its relaxation. There is no place like the USO to get this, and if my opinion meanB anything at all, the USO should be supported to the fullest extent. From Private Wm. 1. Mathews Providence, stationed at Camp Hood, Texas; The USO is a wonderful organization! As a center for all recreational activities for service men.- - it offers facilities which otherwise would not be available around crowded military cen atmosters. It gives us a home-lik- e phere, and let me tell you that is what all service men yearn for. From Private Farres H. Nyman of North Logan, U. S. Marine at Arlington, Corps, stationed Texas: "In Fort Worth, just about 13 miles from here, is the largest service men's center In this part of the country. Its a six story building that covers half a city block. They have every kind of accomodation and convenient e dance floor game imagineable; room for checkers, chess, cards, etc.; pool room; athletic floor for more rigorous sports; library books equipped with periodicals, tijbles, stationery, ink, and easy chairs; a beautiful and comfoit-abl- e lounge; and, above all else, clean shower rooms and clean bedrooms with clean and comfortable bedding. They charge only 50 cents per night for a bed. What an ideal haven for the weary service man! All the USO clubs I have seen appeared to be the best place a soldier, sailor, or marine could be next to home. I don't believe there's anything the boys in the service ap-- I preciate more. Anything that is contributed toward the maintenance of such programs will be appreciated far more than the fighting man will ever be able to tell j'ou." From First Sergeant Weldon R. Scanions of Hyde PHrk, stationed at Camp Fannin, Texas: The USO serves a need whieh is met by no other organization. Staffed by a courteous and efficient volunteer Rroup, it aids new men in their period of adjustment from civilian to army life. Its reading rooms, recreational facilities, and entertain-- i ment programs are available at all times to the enlisted man, while the writing rooms are a constant reminder that the folks back homo Rre always interested in what he is doing. Its service in aiding the wives of service men to find lodgings and employment is in constant demand. It is to the USO that the soldier goes when he visits town, for it is there that he finds the re-- ! taxation and diversion so necessary 'during his hours away from his station. I enthusiastically recommend support of the USO and all the other agencies which are part of the National War Fund by the citizens of Cache County." From Air Cadet Wajne S. Wheeler of Lewiston, stationed at Sikes-toMissouri: "The city of Sikes-to- n is very friendly to us, and especially so is the local USO. These clubs are doing a wonderful job. I have found this true of the USO in every city I have visited. There is no way the people can maintain home front morale better than by supporting these clubs. We know that you people at home are behind us, and with such a spirit Victory will surely be ours and we'll all come back to our families and friends." n, THE HARIT ST. PAUL, Minn.. Nov 8 H !"
