Show THE HERALD-JOURNA- LOGAN, L, Contribution to tol dertment w oUcit yQUr contribution eek. 1 tjVellsville ;ng$ and Death ( Burial List Pur report of a sermon that someone had preached about temple work. He made one statement that ran something like this: " erv few ot the ordinances we perform in the temple are performed vain. "In fact, said he, piactieally all of them wall be effective for in the end when the wicked shall have paid the penalty for their sins the revelation says that Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Christ, and when this shall come to pass the ordinances we are performing now for these dead will become effective. As to the first part of the statement above, this we think is a matter ot opinion. So far as we know there is no revelation which tells just what part of the ancestors of the Lat- y faints are worthy to enter the celestial kingdom and to lay hold upon the temple ordinances performed in their behalf. The last part of the quotation we think is entirely wrong. We know of nothing in the revelations which would justify us in thinking that tnose who are cast down to hell, and whose resurrection is postponed until after the thousand years, will be benefitted in any way by temple ordinances performed in their behalf. ltra, Hi .oo.
