SCHOOL INSTITUTES SET IN PRESTON To acquaint teachers new to the Preston city schools and to Franklin county schools, institutes will be held Monday at Prestun. The city teachers will meet at 9 a. m. in the Preston high school auditorium and teachers in county schools will meet at the court3 p. m. Bill Korns defeated Wayne 6-- 5. PRESTON PIONEER TAKEN BY DEATH John N. McQueen, 85, early pioneer of Preston, passed away at his home late Thursday night from causes incident to age. He was born at Glasgow. Scotland, September 9, 1856. a son of Alexander and Ann Harris McQueen. He came to America as a child of about five years vrith his parents. In his early manhood he became a railroad mechanic in the shops at Evanston, Wyoming, where he met and married Fanny El Swann. In 1883 he came to Preston where he has made his home ever since. His wife preceded him in death a little over a year ago. He was identified with many civic improvements and was always active in LDS church work. His particular interest was directed to genealogical work, in which he was an active leader. He is survived by five sons and three daughters, twenty-si- x grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His children are: Alexander McQueen, Reno, Nevada; Jesse J. McQueen. Boise; Clarence R. McQueen, Phoenix, Arizona; John N. Mcueen, Jr., James B. McQueen, Mrs. Fannv Thoms, and Mrs. Lila James, all of Preston; Mr. Mae Foster. Whitney. Idaho.
