Moat Important The most vital game of the week is admittedly that of Hyrum vs. Cliffs Service at Hyrum. Cliffs beat out a 1 decision over their Hyrum rivals in a holiday feature yesterday, and is favored to repeat since the speed-ba- ll pitcher, Carl Maughan, has injured his arm. But with the brand of ball Hyrum has been displaying of late, the score is never settled until after, the last ball has been pitched. Lundberg Motor, which showed such excellent form at Hyrum, will travel .over to Mendon for a meeting with the rambiftig 3-- ; I f ; if i s. Hebs Score Heb's Pib Stand girls rose to powerful heights yesterday In a holiday game at Providence to avenge a defeat administered a couple of days previously by Edgewood Hall Nursery. The score ended 27-and was a runaway for the Heb's clan. Setting the pace with 8 runs the first inning, the winners continued to score throughout the entire game. Fern Abrams pounded out the only homer for the Nursery girls, while Minnie "Berndt poled out two, and Alene Hanson one for the Pig Stand team. Batteries were Mary Saunders and Lottie Berndt for Hebe's, Wilma Abrams and V. Jessop for 8. i Edgew.iod Hall. Last Saturday, the Pig Stand Team having lost but a single contest all year, downed a strong Pocatello team 8 on the Logan diamond. With the score tied, Lottie Berndt drove a hard one down the line to score one of her teammates for the victory. the Piggies Monday night swamped E. A. In the last three weeks theyve won 37 out of 19 games and practically made a runaway of the National league race. On the morning of July 4 the Reds were a game behind the Dodgers. This morning they were eight games ahead of the stumbling Dodgers with no sign of cracking up. Bucky Walters notched his 15th triumph last night when he pitched the Reds to a 3 victory over the Dodgers, giving Cincinnati a clean series. It was sweep of the Walters' sixth straight and the Reds sixth in a row. A crowd of 30,102 saw the game. Pecking away at Claude Passta.t one run at a time, the Bees nosed and snapped a out the Cubs, losing streak. The Tigers held on to their half game lead in the American league by Slamming out a 5 victory over the Senators while the Indians were coming through with a 6 Hank win over the Athletics. Greenberg hit homer No. 18. The Yankee pitching fell apart as the Browns slugged out a 2 triumph. The Yanks used six pitchers, their high mark of the year, and the Browns called on five to attain the doubtful distinction of equaling the major league record for pitchers used in cne game. The White Sox moved within one game of the Yanks by beating the for their sixth Red Sox. straight win. 6-- Friday's Schedule Motor Sales at Battery One, 7 p. m., Diamond 1. Early Load Battery Two took an early lead the jf 4 to 0 which they held tocame third inning when the Eaters added score. to tie the oack Jacks 5 more in the 9th to lead 9 to 4 and the next two frames they added 3 as did their opponents. Jeff and Bud Hyden each got circuit clouts for the winners while Harvey Bateson got a triple. Dale Peterson hit two doubles while Blanchard duplicated one of them in the last inning. Joe Whitesides got two for four for the losers, Secrist got the only home run for the soldiers, but he also got a single to give him a 500 rating for the evening. Bateson got a double in his first time up. When Als Bike ran up a 10 to 4 lead in the first two frames it looked like a sure win. Especially when A1 Larson, Charlie Kowallis, Darwin Larson and Jim Milnar each hit a home run in the second inning to help account for the 8 runs they scored in that frame. DidnV Give Up But the Chicken men never quit trying. They added two runs in the third, 2 in the fourth, and two more in the fifth to tie the score for during those same innings Als crew scored not a run. In the sixth, Darwin Larson was purposely passed and came home on Charlie Dunn's single to give the bicycle men a one run lead but Lucherini singled and came home on Smiths second double of the game to tie the score. Then Turley hit a long fly into right field which Ted Lewis had in his hands but dropped to let Smith in with the winning tally. Lawrence Turley on the mound for Poultry, did much to win his own game by getting a home run and a single in addition to the long hit that brought in the winning run. Lee Checketts also hit for extra bases' in the second. Errors were numerous but everyone seemed to enjoy the game. , Turns On Heat Motor Sales took an early lead of 2 to 0 but Winget's scored in the fourth and added two more in the sixth to give them a 3 to 2 lead. Motor Sales added a lone tally in the first half of the seventh to tie the count and then they held the Ice Cream men to no score to send the game into the eighth inning. Motor Sales truly turned on the heat then and scored three times ere the inning was over and in their half Wingets had the sacks loaded but fniled to push a tun across and the game otuirri with the score , t! to 3.
