Gerber of the Hyrum District, the vanball finals were conducted at the South Cache high S hool on Saturday, 1ebruary 11. Four teams participated: Troop 124 of the Hvrum Second ward and Troop 129 of Mcndon entered the first game. Hyrum Setond took the game with a score of 0 and 15-1- then Second played Hyrum Troop 127 of Millville, winning the Millville then and 15-game played Mendon in a close game of 15-Hyrum Second and Troop 123 from Hyrum First then contested in the fourth game. A tw'O to nothing victory for Hyrum and Second with scores of 15-15-- 7 16-1- 4 9 15-- Mcndon then played Hyrum First a two to nothing; game, scores 15-- 8 which brought Menand 15-don back to play the Hyrum Second ward in the final championship game, which was won by Hyrum Second by two to one with 5 and set score being Troop 124 from Hyrum Second ward and Troop 129 from Mcndon will represent the Hyrum District at the vanball (mills to be held in the Logan Junior high school Satin J 15-- 12-1- 15-- urday February 18. Much credit Is due to Commissioner Amos Gerber for tho interest which he has manifest and the stimuution which he has given to the developing of the vanball pregram in the Hyrum district. He reports that sportmanship during the tournament was at a high peak; after all this is one of the main objectives of the program. Fifth Ward Troop To Go Camping S i J sr I Explorer Troop 105 of the Logan Fifth ward, under the leadership of Henry K. Aebischcr and Byron Crookston will participate in an overnight camp at the canyon Bergner cabin in Card 21 and 22nd. on February the 21st regular being January troop meeting night, this meeting will be held as a part of the 22nd, the cainp program. On the in skiing group will participate and other winter spar's. They will return home on the evening of the 22nd. Klnf Rutin UUUb I ; The Cut he Valley council finals will be conducted at the Logan Jr. high school Saturday, February 18. for the purpose the two winning of determining teams which will represent the van-bacouncil in the finals to bo held at the Deseret gymnasium in Salt Lake City, Friday and Saturday, March 3rd and 4th. Each of the nine districts of the council will have the privilege of entering two teams. It is def initely known that the Cache district will be represented by Troop 105 of the Logan Fifth ward, and Troop H3 of the Logan Ninth ward. Hyrum district will be represented by Troop 124 of Hyrum Second ward and Troop 129 of Mendon. Entries from tho other districts havo not yet been announced. The tournament will start at All 9 a. m. Saturday morning. participating teums must be on to draw for hand at this time tournament ydace. The tournament will . be under th direction of Lincoln MiClellen,' Explorer commissioner of the Logan district and coach of the Junior high school. One of the most popular Troop activities during Si out Anniversary week has been the holding of Scout and parent banquets and entertainments. Among those to Scout definitely reported headquarters are the following: Troop IS and IIS, Benson ward. Scouter W. D. Johnson reported an attendance of from 95 to 100. A charge of 20c per plate was made to those who attended. The menu consisted of sandwitchcs, fruit salad, potato chips, cocoa, ice cream and ginger snaps. The meal was prepared and served by the Scouts and Scouters. After the dinner games of various kinds were participated in. The Scouts played their mothers a game of vanball and the Explorers opposed their dads in a basketball game. Special guests were; Dr. Clark Haskins, district Scout chnirman; Earl T. Hunsaker, state highway patrolman; Joe Whitesides, Scoutmaster of Troop 13, and freshman coach at the CSAC. Their wives accompanied them. Troop 61, Cornish. Scouts and parents assembled at 8 p. m. in the Cornish ward amusement hall under the leadership of Scoutmaster Douglas Bergeson. Scout Executive Preston W. Iond and F. E. Peterson were special guests. The program commenced with Singing of Scout songs, followed bv short talks on Scouting by Scouts of Troop 61 Scout Executive Pond then showed movie pictures of the Bridger hikes into the Salmon River and Yellowstone, af'er whu h chile and ice cream were served.
