NEW BULLETIN IS ISSUED ON BARLEY "Barley Varietal Tests In Utah," is the title of a new bulletin just issued by the Utah Agricultural under the experiment station authorship of R. W. Woodward, junior agronomist of the United States department of agriculture and D. C. Tingey, associate agronomist of the local station. Since 1927 many barley varieties and strains of barley have been tested at the central experi- mental farm at Logan. In 1932 six of the most promising of these varieties were selected and made a nart of a uniform county cereal varietal study to be conducted in 15 counties in the state. TBe six varieties selected for this test were: Trebi, Atlas, Colorado 3063, Colorado 3192, Coast, Colsess and Sacramenta. During the past season several of the most promising crosses developed by the Utah station, the division of cereal crops and diseases and other state experiment stations were included in the tests, but up to date none of the varieties tested have proved to be as good yielders as Trebi the most generally grown variety in the state. Some of the newer varieties are showing considerable promise but to date cannot be recommended over Trebi, tho authors point out. Copies of this bulletin can be secured by writing to the publications division of the Utah station at experiment Agri-cultu- s't ra Logan. TAXPAYERS CHAFFEE, Mo. There are too many rules in the book now which were drafted to cover exceptional cases," Okeson said. That is what makes them so complex If every time that a break in a game caused the defeat of a team we made a change to prevent a recurrence of such a break, the rules would quickly become a mere hodgepodge of exceptions. Okesoa reported that 1935 was the greatest season football ever had, stressing the fact that great strides were made by coaches in both tactics and strategy.
