WOOD FOR LOGAN WOULD BE GOOD Senior High Holds 1 UlC Dance Special ir Todays Oddity ' has been Bethany, Okla-- , found to contain jnbre than its share of religious souls in a recent religious survey. The little town, which has a population of only 2500 persons, is the home of 87 active ministers, more than any other town its size in the country. The only reason lor the large proportion of ministers seems to lie in the fact that Bethany is the seat of the Oklahoma home division of the. Church of the Nazarene and Bethany-Penicollege is located there. Most of the ministers are missionaries, traveling among small churches throughout the state, houses in but maintainmg Bethany. el NATURELAND Not all leopards are confined to tropical climes. The is found in snowy forests near the limits of timber growths on the high mountains and plateaus of central Asia. It rarely descends below a 9000-foelevatioh. Its depredations on wild and domestic sheep, goits and dogs are the source of much concern, but men do not lear the great . cat. The fur is pale yellowish gray with small Irregular spots on the head, cheek, back of neck and legs, and with dark rings on the back and sides. Its long, bushy tail is ringed with incomplete black bands. is the only The of the feline animals adapted to life in cold climates. snow-leopa- rd ot Weather conditions are ideal for a sledding party of unemployed should Logan city elect to send it into Logan canyon to get out a supply of wood. Twin' Creeks canyon, west of Tony Grove ranger station in Logan canyon, has a thick grove of quaking aspen on the west side' of the canyon, according to Ranger H. I. Rice of the Cache national forest. This timber is easily accessible by sled. Forest Supervisor C.' B. Arentsen said recently tlic wood at this point could be cut and hauled out of the canyon by sled at a cost of 60 per cent less than by the use of wagons earlier in the fall. Sentiment has been growing here in favor of a municipal wood cutting and distributing project as a further aid to the unemployed and other needy relief with which the city is now concerned. If Logan city were to send some of the unemployed into the canyon to cut and haul out wood, Supervisor Arentsen said, he believed the forest service would be willing to contribute the timber supply gratis. Permits would have to be issued, however in an official way. A municipal wood yard could be established and unemployed of the city given work chopping the wood which could be sold as well as distributed to those families unable to pay for it. The community storehouse project committee is considering a plan similar to this with respect to fish distribution in the city. Just as there are certainly more ways than one of skinning rabbits, so, we are convinced, there are many ways to keep the idle in a community from being idle, and help them to earn bread, fuel, and clothing for ' their families. Whos ready to back us up now in getting the city to carry out this municipal wood cutting and selli ing project? 4 nowadays breaks so many of u r i !i , '' Aowdy, folks!
