Show 8 Th Magna Timw, Watt Valley News & Kearns Pos July 18, 2002 Lifestyle Fat Boys take a Deli detour Kids can get bos, the "Beetle Bailey" a ham and turkey sandwich. Grilled Reuben and the Bratwurst Special served with sauerkraut. They also has a take-omenu for box lunches and and they offer sandwiches for parties. Might we suggest: Get bigger pictures or wall art. The pictures of the Utah scenery were very small. Open earlier and close later. Deli hours are from 1 1 a.m. While focusing past reviews to the West Valley and Magna area, the Fat Boys decided to take a detour and venture downtown. After all, our readers may live in West Valley or Magna but might work, shop or visit downtown. ut ot We visited a place called Joni's Deli. It's located at 52 East and 1700 South, right between State and Main. You can see the sign on the south side of the road. If there is no room to park in the front they offer parking in the back. Air conditioning greeted us as we walked in. This was very refreshing with the current heat wave our state has been experiencing. We noticed a Business card display board and the walls had various framed pictures of Utah scenery. Music from a popular radio station was playing, but not too loud. Joni's Deli has a Shawn Machen grilled chicken breast, thin sliced ham, melted Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard on an ambassador roll. We ordered the sandwiches with fries and self serve ' maximum occupancy of about 50 customers. When arriving at the order counter we were kindly greeted and asked to wait as the previous order was being completed. We did not mind the wait as it gave us time to review the menu on the wall. Shawn ordered the French Dip and Jared had the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich. After ordering we waited longer than usual for our food to arrive. However, the food was brought to our table warm and freshly made. Shawn's French dip was thinly sliced Roast Beef on an ambassador roll. Jared's Chicken Cordon Bleu was into creative cooking at State Fair drinks. Both sandwiches came with Pepperocini Peppers ":on the side". Both sandwiches exceeded our expectations of size and flavor. The roast beef in Shawn's French Dip was not tough. The combination of fit Jared Bergerner to chicken, ham, Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard made Jared's Chicken Cordon Bleu ot fries were The home-styl- e a little over cooked, which made them crunch and not greasy. The complementary Fry sauce had a bit too much Mayo in it. Jared still ate all of his. Both Sandwich meals were $6.25. You will also find on the menu Soup corn- - 3 p.m. for yourself.
