In doing so, the two thought it would be lun to i ate each of the new eatei ies and shate their opinions with lellow woikeis. "It was just a natuial foi us to blanch out from tlieie," Beigerner said. "It's lun foi us and we w ant to get the woid out of what we discover." The two say theit qualifications for doing food and testaurant reviews come from their love ot food and attention to detail I Our first adventure takes Home us to "Abs Drive-Iof the Fat Boy". Located on 3500 S. 5419 W. (They also have a location in Kearns, 4100 W. 4715 S.). We stumbled upon Ab's by noticing its sign on the south side of 3500 S. Upon entering the parking lot our taste buds were given a sign of things to come as the air was scented w ith the unmistakable aroma of burgers and fries. The building seemed a bit small from the outside but managed to be very spacious and comfortable on the inside. There's an attempt to capture a 1960's diner atmosphere by the historical memorabilia on the walls and a very cool old Root Beer keg inside. The tables were also decked out with red and white checkered table clothes. The service was very good. The waitress gave us a history lesson on the origin of Abs and told us that not many people know the secret thing." "I do all the cooking at my house. "fheie's an adventuie in going to a place you're unlamdat w ith and what joii'te going to get there," Machen said. "Hath tastes different. When you go to Mi Donalds, you know what it tastes like." In their quest for good lood, the Machen and Beigener have discovered that the diners have service that n isn't olleied in homi-e- i is there a lestamant, food and the atmospheie 1 ize m harn-buig- ei Shawn Machen to the special Fry Sauce. She was also helpful in suggesting menu items, as this was our first visit we were encouraged to order the "Fat Boy Combo", This consisted of the Fat Boy, a double patty hamburger, fries and a 16 oz. drink. The fries came in a very hearty helping, more than likely to compensate for the disappointing size of the Fat Boy hamburger. The two hamburger patties managed to fit nicely under the bun, but lacked quantity. The burger itself was quite & Jared Bcrgerner tasty (better than your backyard burger) as it was garnished with tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and a ketchup relish. The fries were a bit greasy (to be expected) but went great with the very above average Fry Sauce. Jared's Lemonade was a tad watered down, but quite .drinkable, Shawn hadJQr, , Pepper. We left the place not completely full so we ordered Malts to finish the job. There was plenty of talk by the sendee as to how good the Q j " Malts and Shakes were. Jared ordered a Banana and Marshmallow Malt and Shawn had a Chocolate and Marshmallow Malt. The Malts were very creamy and tasty, definitely worth going back for. The cost of the "Fat Boy Combo" was $4.89 the Malt was $2.49. You can also expect to find Chicken sandwiches, Fish and Chips,' Com Dogs and Chili Cheese fries on the menu. Might we suggest: Throw another patty on the Fat Boy and make it a 24 or 32 oz. drink in the combo to make the price reasonable. Don't charge extra for Fry Sauce and additional flavors in the Malts and Shakes. Would we eat there again? Jared and Shawn both agree it's worth a trip, but don't take our word for it. If you would like to comment on this review or suggest a place for the Fat Boys them to review, please at fatboysreviewyahoo.com well-know- is usually good. The I 'at Boy's food reviews will appear in the Magna Times and West Valley News twice a month. iMMtflJ A "We love to eat, and it shows," Beigener said. fl n r ;ceid)ir o TitE' CHOPPING.
