To be given the opportunity to exercise the freedoms that we hold so dear is paramount in our minds as we see fellow citizens succumb to the hand of terrorists. I am exceptionally grateful for the positive events that are happening in our community also. Jim Harding, pastor of the First Baptist Church arrived on Sept. 8, to find the denomination's property inundated w ith water. The situation had become so serious that at one point the church building was virtually surrounded by water. young men pulled up in and identified them- - . selves as Granger High School football players and asked if they could help. At the time, church members were busy building a wall of sand around the foundation and were in great need of every available hand. With the assistance of these remarkable gentlemen, water did not enter the Ten building. In a letter to Mr. Stevens, Mayor Wright and Dan Eckert, Pastor Harding writes: "In a day and age when public education is receiving much criticism, I thought it is especially important had a great time, even with the rain! In speaking with Pastor Harding, I understand these same youth showed up Wednesday evening at the invitation of church members for a dinner and the prayer service that was held for those impacted by the tragedy in New York and Washington. He stressed the impeccable character of these fine young men and the commitment to the community they exhibited. I am not sure how many football games the team has won this year, but I do know they winning the most important sport in life! Cyprus Learning Network a carnival last The game. Their advisor (Mr. Allen) face beamed with pride as he mentioned the many things that the youth were doing at the ; school. I congratulate everyone involved for a job well done. A reminder that it is time for the Granite Board to hear the proposals that have been studied by the Options Committees as part of the "Annual Student Population I Review Process. ' boundary changes are for eight junior highs and 33 elementary schools. On Sept. 25, the board will hear the elementary boundary changes that are recommended options to be taken out to the communities for comment. These options will be presented at open houses that will be held throughout the community. Final recommendations and board action are expected during November. Changes would take school effect for the 2002-200- 3 The ; ; New I The year. These changes are district wide and are meant to be, "Safe, Reasonable, Simple and Cost Effective." "There's been a lot that's gone on this week," Reidling said. "The one thing we have as class-- t' mates is fear as we go through this life.
