Flags and banners festoon the street dignitaries in a variety of conveyances fill the air 3 5v34!r 4 with wrapped candy that cascades down on eager children sitting alone the curb. The first parade Evelyn remembers of many that she participated in was, probably in 1910 or 1911 when she was three or four years old. It was a family tradition for Leslie Dare and Millie Hardman Sadler and their children to ride in , die Magna 4th of July parade along ' Main Street. ; "In those days, the parades seemed to be even bigger than they are now, said Evelyn. "Everyone wanted to be in the parade. It was quite an extravaganza.
