I never really tried it much until lately. My wife showed me how important it was. You know like no dinner today until you say thank you for yesterdays meal. I dont know if thats fair, but it's certainly effective. 1 would like to go back and say some thank yous. retroactive and post humorously. Thanks to my old high school, Cyprus, for all those great opportunities. Thanks for the education, but mostly for the athletics. Thanks for the coaches and teachers that were provided. Thanks to my teammates. Thanks for some great memories. I loved my time in your halls. We would ail be Remiss, if we . didnt thank John Stockton and Karl Malone for fifteen years of great N.B.A, basketball. These two great ones have given us lots of thrills and plenty to be grateful for. No other team has two better stars. They have stayed with us loyally for their whole careers. I say Thanks. Its hard to have a great green lawn when some don't one. Thanks to other neighbors who have figured out that not everyone likes to hear their dog bark, and Thanks again. The pitchers duel was finally decided when a deadlock was broken up in the ninth inning -1 with two consecutive Murray hits. The close matchup pitted the best two baseball teams in the 4A Region 5 but the regional cham- pionship was already decided. Unbeaten Murray clinched the regional title several days back n and awaited the scramble for second place late-seaso- between Cyprus, West and East. The young Cyprus diamond squad entered the final regular season game with a commendable 10-- 3 record, three games behind as regional runner up to 13-- Murray. From the beginning 0 of 2001 conference regular sea- son schedule, Cyprus and Murray wrestled for the regional title as both teams played baseball. near-flawle- ss Talented Cyprus sophomore Joe Wice puzzled Spartan batters through most of the regulation seven innings, striking out six and allowing three hits. The Spartans senior left-hand- er sensation Nick Peay also baffled Cyprus in the first seven innings, fanning four and allowing three hits. Murray got on the scoreboard early in the second inning with one stroke of powerful bat. Joe Wice hurled some heat right down the pipe and Cory Chappell blasted a spectacular solo home run off the light tower in left field. The Spartans maintained edge until the fifth inning. the Pinch runner Dan Cuvelier was gunned down at home plate to foil one Cyprus scoring chance in the home half of the fifth inning. However, the Pirates staged a two-orally with a base hit and a near triple. Jon Tate reached base safely on a single to left field. Kyle Huntsman next slammed a pitch deep to right field that was error mishandled for a three-bas- e to bat in the motoring Tate. This tied the score Cyprus nearly handed Murray a first league loss in the bottom of the seventh inning. Pirates were poised to score from second and third bases as a hit would have meant a win. Naranjo to score a run. The Pirates won the game 5 during minors play on Saturday. Pirates pitcher Colton Goodfellow had four strong innings against the Angels, holding the team to two runs through the first half of the game.
