DEAN LEDBETTER Staff Writer Tayorsville age 13 Babe Ruth All-stbaseball team achieved high honors in the 2000 post season, finishing with an 18-- 4 win-lorecord. Team achievements include being Utah State AAU tournament runner-uUtah Babe Ruth state champion and Pacific Southwest United States Babe Ruth fourth place winner. They are just good team players, with a good balance of speed and power, complimented team manager Chet Nichols. The kids worked hard. In the Fresno, California southwestern U.S. regional tournament recently, Taylorsville lost the August 4 opener 4 to Southern Cal champ Lacrescenta. However, Taylorsville bombed the Guam ter ar ss p, 9-- ritorial champ 14-- 5 on August 5 in the second round. Third round regional action saw Taylorsville win 12 9 in an August 6 extra-inninthriller over Nevada state champ Sparks. Taylorsville was eliminated from the regional tourney with a 0 August 7 semifinal loss to Arizona state champ Scottsdale. Taylorsville placed fourth in the entire southwestern United states with a 2 age 13 Babe Ruth 9-- 2-- regional performance.
