Show exchange wedding vows Jenkins-Bas- s The marriage Scrapbook September 30, 1982 Tlmes-Thursda- Pag of Bonnie Lynne Jenkins and Kenneth Ray Bass was solemnized at the Jordan River Temple on September 10, President illiam B. Martin, officiator. Bonnie, a graduate of Cyprus High School, is the daughter of Douglas H. and Phyllis Jenkins of Magna. Kenneth is the son of Carol H. Bass and the W late Kenneth L. Bass of West Valley City. He is a graduate of Cyprus High School and attended Utah Technical College. He is employed by the Capital Glass Company and Bonnie is a secretary for Hilt on Hotel. A reception was held at the Airport Hilton Inn. hosted by the brides parents. Attendants were Laurie r. bridesmaids were sisters Karin Maddv and Barbara Shepherd, and sisters-in-laLisette Bass. Jada Bass, Janice Jenkins and Susan Jenkins. Flower girls were nieces Kellie Maddy and Carrie Shepherd. Donetta Dixon Christensen attended the guest book. Grooms attendants were uncle Cole, maid-of-hono- Clark Holdaway. best man : and ushers Lynn Ellsworth and David Phil pot. w A wedding breakfast for the family was held at Andys Smorgasbord hosted by the grooms mother. Following a honeymoon in southern California, the young couple will reside in Salt Lake Citv. School activities highlited by kids re vie w WEBSTER ELEMENTARY In the morning before school Webster has a new jump rope class. The class is taught by Terry Roberts. The program is to help motivate the students, help with heart and circulation. Even though the class begins before school, and is volunteer attendance. 200 attend every morning. Utah has completed the air traffic control operator course at the U.S. Army Aviation School, Fort Rucker. Alabama. Classroom and on site training included aircraft recognition, in of weather reports, airfield operations, flight records, radio and telephone procedures and the Federal Aviation Administration cont rol tower operation course. As an air traffic control operator, the soldier will be involved with and issuing clearance for take-of- f landing to Army aircraft from an airfield control tower. terpretation New Bishop sustained Chester Dale Bello was sustained as bishop of the Pleasant Green First Ward. Sunday. September 26 in a Ward Sacrament meeting presided over by Tom L. Bird, president of the Magna Utah State. Sustained as counselors to Bishop Bello were David Made Desnley. first counselor, and second Vavern Keith Burrell, counselor. Mose Dee Watterson was retained as Priesthood Executive Secretary, and newly released D.P. William F. Kemp was sustained as W ard Financial Clerk. Bishop Kemp who has served as bishop of the ward for the past four years was released with his counselors. Forrest C. Hancock, 1st, counselor and Chester Dale Bellow, 2nd counselor. Released as ward clerk was Troy K Yeater. with A. Earl Gegg. released as financial clerk. resident Bishop Bello is a long-timof Magna, and has served in various church callings over the years. Having served as counselor to several bishops in the past, he brings with him to his calling a great deal of experience. In his remarks after being sustained, Bishop Bello vowed to be a servent of the people. He promised to work diligently as bishop, and asked the ward members to support him and his counselors. Terry Roberts has several jump rope teams throughout the state and will be featured on P.M. Magazine Utah on October 5. BROCKBANK JUNIOR Pride week was held this past week. The 9th graders were the over all winners for the week. The newly elected student body officers are Holly Byers. President; Jerilvn Brown, Secretary; Kristvn Osborn, Vice President. A new boys volleyball team has been chosen this past week and the new players are: Craig Sudbury. Devin Hathaway, Todd McKee. Steve Martinez. Brian Nay, Terryl Parry. Nick Gust and Terry Sidwell. MAGNA ELEM Last Thursday. September 16, was Magna Elementarys school picture day. Students often had donned their Sunday best for the poses. Pictures included faculty, class and individual packages were available at extra cost. Pictures will be back in time for Christmas gift giving. In about four weeks a make up day will be held for students who missed the first day. A new feature this year is the single or double image pictures. LAKERIDGE ELEM On the 23rd of September Mrs. Peterson and her 6th grade class invited the Magna Times to class. We spoke about reporting and different newspaper work. The 6th graders will be our new Lakeridge reporters for this year and we are looking forward to the news breaking stories these journalists will be turning in to the newsroom. Turner decorated Pfc. Richard E. Turner, son of Leon D. and Iris B. Turner of 2554 West 2680 South. West Valley, Utah has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal at Fort Lewis, Washington.
