The Utah Pageant is the Official State preliminary tothe Miss United Teenager Pageant, a National The winner of the Utah Pageant will paid trip to compete in the Miss United Teenager National Pageant; a three phase pageant, to be held in Hollywood, Beauty, Poise, and Personality. No swimsuit competition or talent is involved. Contestants must be between 14 and 18 years of age as of December 31, 1982 and must have at least a B average in school. California Scholastic and Civic Achievements, Each contestant accepted will be requested to participate in the Service Volunteer Community Program of their choice.to This share program teaches teenagers and participate in school and civic affairs by contributing a minimum of 8 hours time to some worthwhile Civic all-expen- se (State Honolulu, Hawaii Costume); (Essay); and Washington, D.C. (Finals). Among the prozes that will be awarded at the National Pageant in 1982: $15,000 in scholarships and awards, automobile for the reigning year, $5,000 personal appearance contract. YFU, one of the worlds most experienced international student exchange organizations, has worked with over 100,000 American host families in its 30 year history. Applications are now being accepted from families interested in learning about the world through providing a home to a young person from Latin America, Europe, or Asia and the Pacific, who will arrive in August. These students, who are chosen for their character, adaptability, and scholastic ability, all share an enthusiasm for learning about the United States and becoming part of a typical American family and community. To qualify, a family must be personally interviewed and provide two references. Responsibilities of hosting include providing caring and guidance, housing and food for the student. All students speak English, have medical insurance and their own spending money, and attend the local high school.
