Previntmn wteL every week of the year This motto of the Logan chamber of tommeice committee, on Surprise For Michael Angelo. Strange Lady, Aged 109. Remember Doughnut Month. 4 Added Paragraphs. ABOUT 400 years ago Michael Angela, working on St. Peters, complained to the pope about dishonest contractors. Even then they delivered inferior goods The greatest artist that lived reminded the pope that designing and building would do him no good unless it should benefit his soul, for he got no profit from it. He found happiness in knowing that it would be a source of Inspiration through countless centuries. How amazed would Michael Angelo be now, where he dwells in a grander cathedral, if lie could know that a telephone, part of the system of Vatican City, was installed in the dome of St. Peters. And how much more amazed if he could know that the pope of today, sitting in the dome, could talk with that telephone across the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, to his bishops living in a far away land that Columbus discovered when Michael Angelo was seventeen years old. Mr BY FRANK GETTY SPORTSMAN'S PARK, ST. LOU Ni Vat. Oct. 6. (UP) The Philadelphia Athletics won the fifth game of the 1930 world series today on Jimmy Fexxa home run in the ninth inning, with Mickey Cochrane on base. The score was 2 to 0, and the American league champions now lear, three games to two. Foxxa blow broke tip a great pitching battle, and broke the heart of Burleigh Grimes, the aged spit-ba- pitcher. George Earnshaw pitched magnificently for the Mackmen, allowing only two hits in seven innings, until he was taken out for a pinch hitter. Lefty Grove finished the game and held the Cardinals safe, receiving credit for the victory. Grimes also pitched a great game, allowing only five hits, but Foxx's long drive into the bleachers broke up the game, and the Cardinals had no punch left in their half of the ninth. The game was the most thrilling of the Beries thus far, and was plaved under drizzling Bides before 38.844 enthusiastic fans. The As threatened to score when they filled the bases in the eighth, but Grimes worked his way out of that hole only to come to grief in the ninth. Mickey Cochrane, first man to face him, was passed, and Foxx took hold of a spitball and hammered it in a high arc out among the left field fans. 1 Gef-be- ft on, Ida was seriously injured in an auto crash eitiv Monday morning mar the new How ing well on the stale highway between Sodiliiield and Logan John-',,- , till asleep at the- wheel wild returning from the L D.
