The latter is an improvement needed for a long time. The Council adopted a motion asking the County Commission to install street lights on 2600 South. - By unanimous vote of the Council it was decided to send letters of appreciation to Ray P. Greenwood, County Commissioner in charge of Roads and Bridges; Frances A Arden, Superintendent for County Roads and Bridge Department; Walter Carlquist, County electrician; and to Arthur Marsh, Sr., County Road Supervisor in this area. Mr. Marsh advises that before the summer is over all dirt roads in Magna will be oiled or mulched. Curb, gutter and sidewalks are currently being installed on 8560 West in cooperation with the property owners on that street. Additional curb, gutters and sidewalks in Magna have been asked for by local property owners, and approved tentatively by the County Commission subject to funds being available. Mr. Marsh indicated that the construction of additional curbs, gutters and sidewalks may be delayed until next year, due to lack of funds. Appli Cations now pending are for curb, gutter and sidewalks on 9200 West from Main Street to 3000 South; 8800 West from 2600 to 2700 South; and on 9100 West between 3000 and 3100 South. Mr. Carlquist, the County Electrician, advises that a safety cut out switch is now being installed. At the present time the power lines furnishing street lights for 35th South and the Magna area have no cut out switch. If the line is broken, power builds up to s point where a person would be electrocuted were he to come in contact with the live wire. When this safety switch installation is completed, the power will be cut off within one second. This program involves about 15 miles of new wire, 1000 insulators, 15 poles, 20 cross arms, as well as circuit breakers, oil switch, and other electrical equipment Tourists Here Kearns, Dated The Magna Community Council at their last meeting discussed the work being done currently in Magna by the County (Roads and Bridges Department The activities of this department of County Government in the Magna area includes garbage collection, street lighting, road maintenance, street cleaning, road surfacing, installation of curb, gutters, and sidewalks and many others. The widening and surfacing of 8560 West Street, as well as the installation of curb, gutter, and sidewalk on that street, now under construction, received special commendation from the members of the Council, as did the widening and surfacing of 2600 South in State Engineer, Commercial Club Former Magna Man Sign Welcomes Resigns From Post Bwen, Wages i Pioneer Days Performances Slated Again INFANT SON DIES The infant son of George A. and McConnell of Garfield died Tuesday at 8:30 a. m. in a Salt Lake hospital of prematurity.
