B. Tucker fined ! George Buckner, charged with pos- session of liquor, $299, with the al- ernatlve of senring 120 days in! the county Jail. Buckner was arrested August 9 by Sheriff J. D. Boyd and Deputy Sheriffs Boshard and Birk on the Carter-vill- e road, and when his car was . searched it, was found to contain five .gallons of whisky, six Jugs of .distilled water and seven dozen empty flasks. On August 14 he was given a hearing before Judge Tucker, when he entered a plea of, not guilty. Yesterday afternoon he fought the case before a Jury, basing his claims of innocence of the possession of lntoxl- cants, on the fact that an-- other man was alleged in the car, and owned the liquor. The Jury, after a short deliberation, returned a verdict of guilty, anrf Judge Tucker accordingly assessed the" maximum fine against i . Buckner.
