Claire Windsor has the featured role in this adaptation from the play of Charles Blaney, which was scenarioized for the silver screen by Olga Printzlau. The Little Church Around the Corner, is the story of the struggle going on in David Graham, the young social worker, between his allegiance to his own people, the poor of a mining town, and the comfortable seductions of rich life. He wins the love of Lelia Morton, daughter of the millionaire mine owner; but suddenly decides that his place is with the poor. Colleen Moorse, James Morrison and Eddie Phillips play the leading roles. The story tells of a young wife, whose husband is ill and who leaves home one evening ta work overtime at The presumably Mammonth department store where she is employed, to obtain the money necessary to send her husband to the country for his health. Instead, she attends a speedy Christmas Eve party given by a number of her friends. 1 At a cafe a sum of money is thrust into the hand of the bewildered girl by a drunken admirer. In her hurry to escape she neglects to return the money and carries it home to her husband, tilling him that she received it from aid society. He knows that stAhas not been to the store working, ifar he has been there to take her boie, so he accepts this as a plausibbs excuse. The question arises, was this girl justified in deliberately telling a falsehood in order to preserve the peace of her home and perhaps save her husbands life? Was she justified in fooling her husband? You will be better able to answer this question yourself after viewing one of the showings of this splendid picture. i Charlotte Merriam and George Cooper are included in the cast. Maude Adams, in her early professional career was acting in "Lord under Daniel Frohman, Chumley, dollars a week, earning thirty-fiv- e when A Midnight Bell was produced and the elder Frohman released her so that she could appear in the Hoyt play with her mother. This was about thirty years ago. Now, Charles Ray will be seen as Martin Tripp in the photoplay feature adapted from the celebrated Hoyt stage vehicle. Both Maude Adams and Charles Ray have devoted their every effort to their beloved work and both are akin in their love of home and study. For years many people believed was a that this devotion to work Adams studied affection with Maude and there are those who still regard refusal to make public appearRays ances as a pose. Miss Adams and Mr. Ray both think that stage and screen plays should be treated as works of art, and that it is entirely wrong to expose the mechanics of the speaking or cinematic stage. Both are in earnest in their opinions. Certainly it cannot be argued that either Miss Adams or Charles Ray have suffered in popularity because of their sensitive reticence. Instead, there is a profund respect for them both in their desire to devote their best thought to their art. Trrigus to the Columbia theatre Wednesday. This is the first time that Enid Bennett and Fred Niblo have ever appeared together on the screen, though Mr. Niblo has directed his charming wife in sixteen pictures. In fact, this is Mr. Niblos first appearance as an actor since he deserted the speaking stage for the silent drama, and it is indeed a rare treat that this Plyagoers features offers in presenting the famous director and husband of Enid Bennett before the camera.
