Show V PROVO POST FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 1921. Thomas Thompson Makes Statement To the Citizens of Provo: I have served you tor four years and am asking you for another term. I think it proper to make a public announcement as to what my policy will be. For the last four years all my time and energy has been spent in getting water for Provo City, which was necessary for the growth of this community. A City without - water cannot make much of a growth, as a city can substitute anything else but water. It I am reelected my next term, if I keep the same department, will be spent in buliding up the parks and playgrounds and taking care of the cemetery, and I want to call to the at- -' tentlon of the citizens of Provo that some of our best families and piO' neers are resting in the cemetery without the lots being taken care of by anybody. I appeal to the posterity to come and take out perpetual so as to beautify our ' maintenance, cemetery and be a credit to them. If I could appeal to the dead there would be no question but that our cemetery would be in fine condition, and I hope the same result will be attained by appealing to their poster ity. I hope that the same policy will be carried out that has been during the last four years. I believe it will with the class of men who are running for the office of mayor, as they are all good citizens. My business is such that I can give my Bole time and attention to the business of Provo City, as it will not require but one day a month to attend to my personal affairs. I belong only to one clique the clique that boosts tor Provo and builds up the community. HEMSTITCHING I, Le Roy Dixon, by and under the authority invested in me as Mayor of this city, do hereby proclaim and designate October 10th, 1921, as the beginning of the clean-u- p campaign, as initiated by the. Chamber of Commerce, and do hereby call upon all citizens, firms, corporations, business houses, and industries of every kind to make a special effort in cleaning up, remodeling and Repairing their property and premises. I desire to call special attention to the unsightly condition of our streets and sidewalks, caused through weeds and decaying vegetation, and trust that this particular phase of the clean-u- p will not be overlooked, especially does this apply to vacant lots, Our labor conditions are much better than in other communities, yet there are some unemployed, and this is an ideal time for those who can better afforef to pay for this work being done than to give, it their personal time, to afford, an opportunity for employment. Given under my hand and seal this 5th day of October, 1921. LE ROY, DIXON, Mayor . Attest: FRED EVANS, City Recorder. (Seal.) - |
