" MEMBERS CHARLES the labor Civic Dinner Night; Rotary Leads HOPKINS The work of Charles Hopkins, city road commissioner, came In for ita share of praise at the weekly luncheon of the Kiwanls club yesterday, and when President T. F. Pierpont contrasted Mr. Hopkins work with that of the county commissioners, our City official was given a hearty - round of applause. Mr. Pierpont touched on the disastrous results of the almost impassable road through Provo canyon, and stated that he had outlined his views in a written article which he asked be published in the local papers. The article expressing his views appears in another column of todays Post. Mr. Scott P.- Stewart stated that there is approximately 1100,000 left in a road fund from bond issues which might be used on road Improvement work.- - , Mayor LeRoy Dixon explained that the state road commission owed the City of Provo more than $30,000 upon road work, which the state commission is unable to pay because Utah county owes the state commission approximately the same amount. "Mr. Pierpont explained details of the Chamber of Commerce movement, and the club members showed a willingness to get behind the movement. C. C. Hoag, manager of the J. C. Penney store, and Fred Olsen of the Buster Brown shoe store, were club visitors. The charter meeting of the club will be held next Tuesday evening at the Hotel Roberta, at which time the ladies of the Klwaniana and a number of invited gueata will participate. A splendid program of music and entertainment la being prepared for this occasion.
