Here is the story, as it was gathered by a Post reporter this morning. piece by piece: The probation officer was lpfora ed by the policeman that he had Just learned that there had been an abandoned baby found out near the city cemetery. With thoughts of the child recently found in un automobile on Second East street, the probation officer was right on the Job. He first reported the matter to Judge Willis. He told the Judge that from all that he could learn from the officer, no one in the Neighborhood seemed to want the baby. The Judge suggested that the probation officer make some arrangement to have the baby cared for until the court could have time to look more fully into the case. Did the probation officer follow Instructions T He did! He at once telephoned to his wife to have everything prepared as be was about to bring home a baby Just as soon as he could get the policeman to drive him to the place where It had been abandoned. After notifying the city recorder's office of the birth of the child he turned to find the policeman. He was not around. After he had waited for some time, the fatherly feelings of the probation officer stirred 'within him to such an extent he could wait no longer and he therefore set forth alone for the A scene of the abandonment.
