Witli the approach of Spring it might lie well. to consider the vacant lot problem in Provo "andf to draw up some plan whereby the hundreds'--, of vacant places might Jbe beautified and made productive, Some of our city lots have been developed in the past and others have been left to run to unsightly weeds and have been detrimental to both the beauty and the value of property on either hand. The ost would suggest that a garden content be started in this city by the pity officials, the board of education or the Commercial club and that prizes be given to the boys who can produce the best crops; The garden contest is by no means a new feature, as many cities have adopted it ami have had such excellent results they, now consider it an annual affair in which every boy who can secure a vacant lot can take part in. Many cities do not have half the vacant lots to be found in Provo and yet the produce from these lots is a real item in furnishing the garden stuff and vegetables to the people. We hope our Provo boosters will also have an opportunity, to count this one of the annual contests for boys and girls and will get busy as soon as possible. The Post will welcome any suggestions the residents of Provo may have to give and will gladly publish statements or plans for the improvements of the city along these lines..
