Were you aware that proximity to a McDonalds is more crucial than proximity to the Library? The Utah Permanent Community Impact Fund Board at its second trimester meeting of the year today approved grants and loans for projects that include the construction of several new fire stations, the purchase of ambulances, and a study ofthe feasibility ofrelocatingthe Uintah County Airport in Vernal. The 27 entities that were awarded funds represents the largest number ever for . the Community Impact Board. The Community Impact Board is a program ofthe Utah Division of Community Development. It helps state and local agencies and entities that are, or may be, ' directly or indirectly impacted by mineral resource development on nearby federal lands and the exclusion ofthose lands from the local tax base. The board provides assistance through grants loans for the and agencies provide public services. The Community Impact Boards next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 6. Among the projects approved for grants andor loans: Alton-$12000 grant to pave several streets.
