This is invite you to visit the site to see not true!! As near as I can find out there the names of those who supand with time about three groups of us were money. ported Dear Editor, This site not only honors those early settlers to this area, but it recognizes the many current day contributors. Regard ing the old monuments, we want to clarify a few points. We struggled with all options and, as a board, we voted to do what we thought was best. We spent many hours consulting with those who were involved. We consulted with members of the Heritage Council, the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, previous land owners, the City Council, the Planning Commission, the Beautification Committee, and major contributors. We also obtained the permission of the local Boy Scouts of America, the Kanab Stake, and the Stewart Family who built the two memorials. The plaques and petrified wood which were on the monuments have been permanently integrated into the new memorial. Our motive for this project was to build upon and beautify this comer of the community. We sincerely apologize if we have left anyone out or offended anyone. It has been a true eye opener to see the generosity of time and funds of so many family and friends. It has also been interesting to watch the trend of those who contribute no time, no money, and no ideas, but have an endless regiment of criticism and faultfinding. We are encouraged, however, by the fact that those of positive support are in the overwhelming majority. We are still accepting donations so we can finish the lighting and parking lot. We will give donors recognition bricks and have them installed before West- ern Legends in September. Please contact any of the Board of Trustees for donor slips. Southern Utah News AAA Deadlines FRIDAY 1 PM Sincerely, Helen Cram Starr Better plan? . Dear Editor: It is incredible that the Stewart Memorial Committee chose as their best historic and public relations option, the complete destruction of the old memorial marker, what a shame. Im sure the first grade class at Kanab Elementary School could have come up with a better plan.
