The Utah Coalition to Stop Drug Dealer Profits urges you to vote NO on Initiative B. Ifyou have questions, contact your police chief or county sher- of-sta- te iff. Initiative B Fact vs. Fiction: Fiction: Utah law enforce- ment seizes assets on its own, without due process protecting the rights of the accused. Fact: ' Utah state law thor- oughly protects the rights of the innocent, and even the ac- cused. No property has ever been seized by Utah law en- forcement without full due pro- cess in a court of law. Fiction: Initiative B is a mi- nor change that will not affect enforcements ability to fight illegal drugs. Fact: Initiative B will effec- tively destroy one of the most effective means available to law enforcement to punish crimi- and control the spread of narcotics among our young people. Fiction: Initiative B will still allow asset forfeiture in many cases, and even better, the money will now go to help schools. Fact: Initiative B will all but eliminate forfeiture. What money is generated will go to fund criminal lawyers as they tie up our courts with one appeal after another. And more facts about Initiative B: Fact: Initiative B will increase the cost of enforcement and prosecution against the most predatory criminals in drug dealers. Fact:' Every major law enforcement organization in Utah is asking you to vote NO on this initiative. That includes sheriffs, police chiefs, captains, and patrol organizations. Fact: The campaign for Initiative B is funded in part by g legalization groups who could care less about Utah citizens.
