Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Sports WEDNESDAY MARCH 29, 2000 r Cowboys split a pair The Kanab Cowboys lost one and won one last week as region action got underway. On Tuesday, Par o wan came to town and Ram the Cowboys had Smith easy pitcher Taylor sailing, with only a walk in the fifth inning keeping him from a perfect game, until the final inning. The Cowboys loaded the bases in the seventh inning on a walk, hit batter and an error, but couldnt push a run across and lost the shutout. The Cowboy defense played much better, allowing only two errors in the game, but the bats didnt show up on a cold spring day. The Cowboys bounced back on Friday when they hosted the Milford Tigers. The visitors jumped out to a 0 lead after one inning, but it was all Kanab from then on, as the Cowboys won in five innings, 12-Sam Noel picked up the win, allowing only two runs on three hits and one walk. Noel fanned eight batters in the 10 run mercy rule shortened game. The Cowboys committed three errors, with two coming in the first inning, allowing the two Milford runs to cross the plate. James Narramore led the offensive charge with a grand slam 9-- 0. no-h- it 2-- 2. ! home run in a big eight run fourth inning. After getting beaned his first time up, N arramore went three for three, getting two singles to go along with his dinger. In his big day at the plate, Narramore scored three runs and knocked in five. Josh Blasdell and Blake Brinkerhoff each added two hits, with Blasdell ripping a triple and a single and Brinkerhoff two singles. Blasdell scored twice, as did leadoff Sam Noel. Others getting hits were Jim Barnes, Matt Pepper and Mace Glazier. In a shakeup trying to find the right combination, coach Mike Walker started two freshmen in Josh Blasdell brings it home running Gilberg took first in the highjump witt j a leap of 63'. Gilberg also took the Milford game. Steven the final leg of the 4 x lOOMeterRelay Daniel first in the long jump and was a member of the winning 4 x 100 M Relay team. Gilberg played second base and for first place. Mace Glazier started in centerfield. This week, Kanab travels to Enterprise on Tuesday and host Richfield on Thursday. Girls softball victorious after tough loss Jim Barnes sprints across the finish line in first place in the 100 Meter Dash with a personal best time of 1 1.349. Tuesdays game against Parowan was a hard loss as Kanab was in the lead until the seventh inning.
