During the fall of 1998, longtime friend Karen Arndt joined them to form the Slickrock String Band. Karen learned to play guitar at a young age from her father, a prominent fiddler. The Slickrock String Band has performed at the Mesquite Blue-graFestival in 1999, the first mid-weste- rn ss annual bluegrass festival in Kanab, and several other festivals around the Southwest, recently winningfirst place in the Old Time Band contest in Buckeye, Arizona. They have two recordings available on CD and cassette. The last concert in the spring libraiy concert series will be held on April 8 and will feature vocals and instrumental music by Linda Alderman playing classical and folk harp and guitar. ration.
