Show KANSAS missionary HEARD FROM FRO M narka kansas nov 6 1909 editor of the progress dear brother with great pleasure I 1 will thank you for sending me the progress pi ogress it la is indeed a pleasure for me to receive the paper each week and the good news from home contained therein therein I 1 de aided to give you a short description of our missionary labors in kansas for the news in yo ir columns there are 19 elars laboring in this conference known as the bt johns conference it consists of two thirds of the state including the western part some of the elders are doing company work some are in the country altogether and some are visiting sa ants we have tao tw a comparios com paries ies five elders in each company our work is principally pi I 1 ici pally in the country although we meet in a d ff efferent erent to each saturday and sunday and hold street meetings when we tell the people that we are mormons from utah their uno sity is aroused to a great extent we hear the remark q aj 1 I te often that all we are after is to let et women and girls to go g 0 to 0 o utah these people do not real ze that we have two girls girl in utah to every one in kansas the people ahre are in a bad ad condition as far as beligon is conceited conce ined they are divided and sub divided we enter a small town of three hundred people and find four or five different denom n stiens represent I 1 d it isn t like enter ing the towns of utah where the people are all united in the teachings te of our SAV say or it is a fulfillment ot of the voids of chr st they being ignorant of the righteousness of god they go about and establish the r own right it is some difficulty to make the people believe the lord aga n established his work upon the earth but that is not an unusual occur oc currel rei ce it has happened in other gospel d and we cannot expect anymore any more in this one our baptisms are very f few ew but we are d A wonderful s of G gospel opel o pel books and records and we hope to reap a har harvest vestin in the near future the people here in general are in dust rious corn being the principal crop alfalfa is bing b ing d very rapidly but they canno mal e as bia big headway with any of the r crops as under the ini rg gation a alo n projects ro e ets gen generally IP ly speaking a k in the people are quite qu it w or ell e jl informed in fa in d in 1 scientific matters but not so we well 11 on re rel 1 bious matters as the mormon elders would I 1 ke them to be M my y addic to every young man is to prepare to fill a mission one can t imagine what a work the latter day saints have to we must remember that this gospel shall be preached as i a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come ever praying the lord to bless the dear saints in zion your friend and co laborer FRANK A HOWARD south pleasant st independence mo |
