Show associations BENEFIT FOREST SERVICE the following was handed in by J craw ford president of the five stock association i who stated that something of the 1 ind would be a good thing hera washington nov 4 dur D ng the past year 17 associations ot western stockmen have applied to the forest service for the recognition of their ad boards swelling the total number of associations thus recognized to 46 the recognition accorded entities an association to receive notice of proposed action and an opportunity to be heard by the local forest officers in referee to increase or decrease in number of stock to be allowed the following sea son the division of tl e range between d efferent classes of s ock and their eners or the adoption of special ralea to meet local condit ons and in every case the recommendations of advis cry boards are folio ved as far as the rights of non members and the other interests involved will allow this operation is of value both to the stockmen interested and to the government the stockman is afforded an opportunity to work out hn own destiny the government has the beni fit of h s brair ing and experience exper ence in 1 meeting the complicated on which arise in connection with its ad mm bt ration of the national forest land i by th s means the d vision of the range bet veen cattle and sheep chcon dieted am cable bring about an absence of ill feel ng and bitterness the naces sary reductions to provide for new own ers or prevent damage to the range are distributed to the best advantage and in the way wh ch will cause the least in conven ence or loss to the ones af fectea seasons are established which will secure a maximum of use of th range with a m of damage and question d fees are pro notly a wh ie conal claims to ranges and resultant disputes are settled the association more often than bv ap to the government officers aher ever an association is organized local adm n follows it is the policy of tl e forest service to make every national forest as self ad stra tive as conditions will per mit aud it has welcomed the hearty operation of the stockmen firmly recognition will ba granted an assoria tion whenever its membership conati atutes a majority of the users of the forest or division for which at seeks recognition and every facility will be afforded th ambers to maintain the organization as operative unit of the national |
