I hope you will indulge me in some reflections aboutthepastyearandthoughts drawn from it. While the responsibility of meeting one more deadline in life has been challenging its been worth while! I continue to and hope Ive provided insight into gardening that others will recog- nize as important to use. I wasonceaAedifl, overran out of things to write about? no! The know ledge of gardening organically is e been at a loss, how to put it about at times, together understandably, but never lacked for subject matter. I feel so strongly about the inherent truths in the organic method it keeps me enthused and excited to share it! Its been satisfying to hear of people en- never-ending- Glendale Many hands pitched in to clean up the town last Saturday clean-u- p in Glendale Photo by Myma Cox. 1 1 State Basuk of Southern Utah reports record earnings On April 12, 1994, the newly organized Bank Holding Company, Southern Utah Bancorporation, held it's first annual meeting of stockholders at 26 North Main Street, the head office of it's wholly owned subsidiary. State Bank of Southern Utah. The new Bank Holding Company was organized on March 8, 1994 to meet the growing financial needs of the Bank and Southern Utah customers. Stockholders approved theorganization of the Bancorporation and named the following Directors to serve for the ensuing year: Herman Anderson, Charles Blackburn, Gail Bradshaw, Don Bulloch, Steve Corry, Ronald Heaton, Joe Houston, James Hoyle, Brent Hunter, Kerry Jones, Jeff Marchant, David Norton, John Westwood, LaVeve Whetten, and Tom Williams. Tom Williams, Chairman of the Board and Kerry Jones President, reported record earnings for State Bank of Southern Utah in 1993. Earnings per share were $8.19 in 1993 up from $7.30 in 1992. Chief Financial Officer, John Westwood, reviewed the Audited Annual Report, stating that total assets topped $100 million dollars in 1993 ending the year at $112 million. Capital remained strong, nearly 10 7c and return on equity after taxes was 14.27c. Its been enjoyable and y teresting. Admitting I was not so naive as to suppose the umn would make any great e pact on the thinking or garden-practice- s ing practices of the the conclusion was made that women are more receptive to changes, ideas, thinkingor tices than are men! Not only are we what we eat, but what our plants eat too! Do you really know whether your garden produce is free of pesticide or chemical residue? Mine is! What is put on and under the plants is absorbed by the fruits you eat. Chemical fertilizers DO NOT improve soil structure, soil life nor plant resistance, nor are pesticides selective, whether pests or humans! Organic practices improve soil, its life, planthealth, encourages earthworms and aids predators in keeping the Plus organic garden insect-free- . gardening grows mineral and vitamin-ric- h fruits. Fred and Bette Crose are 1 368 Vermillion in Kanab. Their occupations are mill WTight and bookkeeper. They have moved here from California and are interested in camping, hunting, and fishing. The Cserepes family has moved here from Spanaway, Washington. Steven and Debra-Lyn- n Cserepes are the parents ofeleven children. The children's names are Steven Jr., Joseph, Kristen, Annallese, Timothy, Elizabeth, Kaleigh, Andrew, Daniel, Benjaman and Jacob. The Cserepes are interested liv-ing- at in running marathons, cooking, needlepoint, sports, and reading. Welcome to Kanab! Preparing for the 4th Jennie Meadows, chairman of the Kanab City 4th of July celebration, and her a Milton McCoy, met with the City Council Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. They issued an invitation to the people of Fredonia to join in the 4th of July celebration aevtivities in Kanab, i.e., floats, marching bands, drill teams, fireworks, etc. They were well received.
