Show LEDALE BOARD SENDS following is a correspondence that has passed between the town board of Cast ledale and judge F E woods which explains itself castle dale june 30 1910 judge F E woods dear sir acting on the advice of the board I 1 am q doting from the min utes of a special meeting of the town board of castle dale held june 27 1910 an extract which is self explanatory after d sc the matter for some t me it was deemed advisable to dis continue the services of judge F E woods as town attorney A botio i was made by A E will and seconded by J W lak that he be asked to file his res agnation before the next regular meeting july 5 1 respectfully yours S A harlib town clerk Cast ledale july 1 1910 to the president Pies ident and board of trustees of castle dale town gentlemen I 1 have just received a communication from S A hams town clerk purporting to be upon the advice of your board to the effect that I 1 am asked to file my resignation as town attorney of castle dale town before july 5 1910 and that it was considered advisable by the board to discontinue my services town attorney I 1 am informed by said communication that this action was taken by the board on june alt 1 deem this a remark able proposition and action in any event and especially so in view of the fact well known to you that I 1 was given no opportune opp ty to be heard and no tion whatever in any manner as to the reasons for this action I 1 to say now that I 1 shall not it this tims file my resignation and I 1 demand the rea sons for your action and if there are any charges against me 1 I demand to know what they are and now in ad vance of knowing what they are ae mand a full and complete invest gation yours very truly F E WOODS castle dale july 1910 judge F E woods dear sir your communication of july 1st was read before the board last evening and respectfully and beliber abely discussed As clerk of the body 11 was interacted to inform you of the ac tion taken all members except J W lake were present at the meeting they were unanimous in adhering to to their former decision I 1 feel in justice to yourself to again quote from the minutes taken last even ing which will be read for approval and probably be the only record of the sub eject A communication from F E woods dated july 1 1910 was read in which he i desired to kno v the leagons aly his resignation as town attorney biad been asked for and demanding a full in Vesti gation of any charges that might be preferred against him after con sid erable d escuss on the clerk was in strutted eted upon motion duly made and carried to say in reply that since the office under the town ordinances no 8 sec 3 is held only during the pleasure of the board no charges or tion is or was necessary the ord nance cited above reads as follows the pres dent and board of i trustees reserve the r to remove any and all appointive officers at pleas ure very respectfully yours S A HARRIS town clerk now in view of the fact that judge I 1 woods lives at Cast ledale and has both a residence lesi dence and business phone by which he could have been called before the board at any ime why was this not donea of course the matter is of small importance but it looks to us as though woods ought to have at least been in fon ed of the reasons of the board for the action taken |
