In January, Jim Hunter ofGolf Growth entered into an agreement with the City to manage the Coral Cliffs Golf Course. We have been very pleased with this arrangement. Robert Hubbard was appointed by the City as the Southwest Border Development Council Director. Hubbard is working to find small industries that might be interested in relocating in the Kanab area. During the summer of 1990 the Kanab Electric Department built the new power substation located on Chinli Drive. With the construction of this facility, our power transmission costs will be greatly reduced. The Kanab City airport also saw some new improvements with the expansion of the plane parking area, addition oflightingand renovation of the beacon. The Council also applied for funding from the Utah State Board of Water Resources for the construction of a new water storage tank to be located on the eastern edge oftown. This project should begin in the early spring of 1991. The City is also seeking funding for the construction of a new fire station complex. Hopefully this project will begin in early 1991. During the year the Council sponsored a scholarship to the University of Utah Alcohol & Drug School. Beth Martin was appointed Kanab City Historian. Martin spends many hours in her position and the City really appreciates her hard work. The City was also involved in the Howard Koch Day on Oct. 27. We are excited abiout the effort to attract movie production in our area again and the development of a film festival. This year we watched the buildingof the new units at Shilo Inn, the new Pizza Hut and the Utah Department of Transportation maintenance buildings. We also welcomed First Security Bank to Kanab.
