Gene Drake Kanab Show successful Dear Editor: The holiday benefit show provided by the Tushar Mountain Performers last Dec. 28 was besides a lot of fun for everyone. The sponsors, the Kaiva Plateau Archaeological Society, provided a social gathering after the performance and assisted in the distribution of the hundreds of cans of food throughout the Paiutc Reservation, Fredo-ni- a, heart-warmi- ng and Kanab. Thanks to ' the local communities, there were a lot of people who received more than a few meals after the holidays. We were so shocked at the kind generosity of these towns and their people. How can we ever thank you folks for your warm hearts? So many ate because all of you cared so much. We also want to give a huge dose of appreciation to the Kanab High School for allowing us to use the auditorium and their technical people, Sandy Lord and her assistant, such wonderful people! A great time was had by all and the Tushar Mountain Performers just wanted to express their appreciation to everyone. The Kaiva Plateau Archaeological Society has gained new members since that night and also applaud the community for the support given to this event, the performers, and the Society. Franzez Sorensen Fredonia Clarifies story Dear Editon I would like to clarify a few statements made in the Jan. 17, JOB REPORT Laundry Worker House Keeping Fabricator Experienced Auto Mechanic For more information contact JOB SERVICE Kanab - 644-533- 3 WEDNESDAY JANUARY 24, 1990 1990, issue of this paper. First, I want to state that it was only neglect on my part. I Public Pulse did not willfully sell alcohol to Ralph Black. The Saturday night that the arrests "Name one thing you'd like to see us change or add to the Southern Utah News." hap- pened I was working alone. It was 9:45 p.m. (10 minutes 'til closing) and I was trying to do the work that two employees usually do. ' A man with long hair and a full beard, whom I had never seen before, brought a suitcase of beer to the counter. Under normal circumstances, I would have asked for an ID card but because of the fact that I was pushed for time, I forgot to ask, and only quickly glanced at him. I had seen Officer Crosby sitting across the street earlier so I knew he was watching, which again says that it was only neglect. I would also like to correct the story and state that Ralph Black was the only person who came in the store. I did not know that the others were with him. In conclusion, I will again state that I did not willfully sell alcohol to a minor it was a mistake that simply any convenience store employee pressed for time could have made. They asked Kaibab Industries to bring one of their transport trucks to the parking lot of the school. Kaibab was most helpful and acted accordingly; they also brought some of their expert drivers to talk to the youngsters. The children were so excited and had an opportunity to climb up and through the cab. The Kindergarten class and Miss "Goodie" want to say, "Thank you, Kaibab, for giving us a wonderful learning experi- ence." Arlene Goodhart Fredonia SUPCO Southern Utah Publishing Co.
