Bangerter announced today that the Utah Film Commission cracked all previous existing fiscal ) ear records, gamering over $33,000,000 in film and television activity for the state's economy. The 198889 fiscal year figures include revenue generated by visiting and production companies. In recognizing the accomplish- f te ment, Governor Bangerter noted that film and television production is especially valuable because it brings the state of Utah revenue and media attention that benefit all Utahns. "In addition to the direct dollars left behind in our tourism cannot be purchased," stated the Governor. Citing the recent example of INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, Governor Bangerter continued, "the Utah taxpayer could not afford to purchase billboards as monumental or breathtaking as the opening sequence of the film which the Utah Film Commission estimates will be seen by more than 50 million people."
