Utah Celebrates Hunting, Fishing On September 27, Utahns will celebrate Hunting and Fishing Day. It will be a quiet celebration, without fanfare and ceremony. And, perhaps it should be. Utahns, along with many Americans, have grown to truly cherish hunting and fishing experiences. Regardless of the setting or the nature of the group involved, hunting and fishing outings are often remembered forever. 27 is a day to think about those memorable times. It is a time to think about the future of wildlife. Take a minute to ponder current trends in wildlife and wildlife habitat. Where will they lead? Kanab did have the opportunity to show their mettle defensively as they held several times when the Sand Devils threatened close to the goal line. Kanab fumbled the ball away a couple of times and had it s tripped from them on one occasion and suffered a number of penalties that hurt their drives. With the third period approaching the final minutes Page punted the ball to Kanab. On the Cowboys first play the ball was stripped away from Darin Gifford and Page recovered it. A penalty aided the Page cause and they moved toward the Kanab goal line. Another five yard penalty against Kanab brought the ball to the Kanab eight yard line. In four plays after the penalty the Sand Devils were unable to make any yardage and the quarter ended with Kanab leading 14-Kanab had the ball to begin the final period and moved fairly well, but another 15 yard penalty did not aid their cause and they had to punt the ball away. Page had possession for two plays when Glover intercepted a Sand Devil pass at Kanabs 13. Again Kanab proceeded toward the Page goal line with authority when the Sand Devils returned the favor and intercepted a Kanab pass at the Kanab 48. In nine plays Page ' moved to the Kanab lS but there their drive ran out of steam and Kanab took over for their final series of downs. Kanab again moved the ball quite well, traveling almost 60 yards in six plays, but another penalty thwarted this drive and with 24 seconds left they punted and the game ended just two plays later with Kanab still leading 14-- 0 to protect their perfect record.
