Show I SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS - Thursday, April 11, 1985 - Pag? Four Senior Citizens Update Obituaries Allen Cecil Stanfield Allen Cecil Stanfield, age 22, died April 2, 1985 in Fredonia, Arizona. Allen was born September 1, 1962 in Orange County, California, to Earl John Stanfield Jr. and Gloria Castro. He was a memb er of the Kaibab Paiute Band and a 1981 graduate of Phoenix Indian High School. Allen was an artist and a philosopher and loved to read and skateboard. He was an employee of Tribe. the Kaibab-PaiutSurvivors include his parents, Earl and Gloria Stanfield of Fredonia; a brother, Timothy Earl Stanfield of Catalina Island, Ca.; sisters, Mrs. Timothy (Gale) Rogers of Kaibab, Ariz., and Anna Marie Stanfield of Mesqute, Nev.; grand parents Odilon Castro of Capistrano Beach, Calif.; Dora Stanfield of San Juan Capistrano, Calif, and Isabell John of Kaibab. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6, 1985 at the Community Center at Kaibab with burial in the Kaibab cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary. seminary, was a Scoutmaster and Mens President, also High Councilman. He was born in Alton, Utah, April 11, 1938 to Ray Joseph Palmer and Melba Pugh. He married Lois Blau of Mesa, Arizona June 9, 1962 in the Mesa Temple. Birds are good neighbors. Their choice of plantings can meet many of these needs. Now that spring is here, we hope it is a good time to start this program and invite Cub Scout groups and families on family night to make bird houses and feeders and enjoy Bird Watching. songs, colors, and lively activities add much to the joys of suburban or living. They also help us control insects that attack flowers, lawns, gardens, and people. You know about manmade bird attractors--feeders- , birdbaths, nesting shelves, and the like. A new granddaughter joined the family on March 29. Leesa and Terry Owens are the proud parents in Provo of Melody Spring who weighed in at eight pounds, two and f ounces. Then the rest of the children joined Kirk and Roxanne Allen from Cedar City as they were sealed in the St. George Temple Friday, April 5, and visited in Kanab. Even in small yards, the right Charles Joseph Palmer Charles Joseph Palmer of Lake-wooColorado, who grew up in Alton, Utah, died Friday, March 29, 1985 of complication of Leukemia in St. Josephs Hospital, Denver, Colorado, following a bout of ten months with the disease. He was a prominent economist in Forest Service for the United States government and wrote many programs which are being used now. He spent many hours flying to different areas teaching these programs. He was a graduate of Valley High School, Orderville, where he was a good student, especially in math. He also enjoyed sports and FFA. He attended College at Dixie in St. George and received his A.S. He went to Utah state at Cedar City and Logan, Utah and received his B.S. and N.S.; completed classes for his Ph.D. in Economics at Tucson, Ariz.. and Ft. Collins, Colorado. He filled a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints to the Central States Mission for two years, was a counselor to four bishops, Ward Clerk to three CHARLES JOSEPH PALMER children; Sharia Jo Christie, Denver. All other children still at home in Lakewood; DeMar Robert, Tauna hae, Kristen Gale, Kenley Jay, Tessa Lyn, Matt McKay, Jared Joshua and Samuel Sherwin, who was one year old in January, 1985. Also one granddaughter, Kimbra Suzanna, son in law Phillip Quentin Christie; four brothers, Elgin Ray, Pensacola, Florida; Robert Kay, Henderson, Nev.; Delbert Ross, Orderville; Wendell Blain Clinton, Utah; two sisters, Helen (Mrs. William Mackelprang), Henderson, Nev.; Donna Rose (Mrs. Richard II. Caine), St. George; his mother, Mrs. Melba P. Palmer, St. George. Funeral services were held in the 16th Ward, Lakewood Stake, Lakewood, Colorado. He was buried in the Chapel Hills Garden Cemetery, Littleton, Colorado near the L.D.S. Temple area on April 2, by Ella C. Crosby that? We have Easter behind us and such beautiful weather. I think that is the first Easter Ive seen that was not cold and windy. Am I just imagining or is it usually bad weather for Easter and for Conference? Anyway, its nice to have such beautiful weather. Now, if it will just last until we get the Cancer Drive over. This year, Im responsible for 13 Districts so you might see me before next week. Wanted to tell you, too, that we think the Clorox bottle is working. Either that or those who have dogs are keeping them home more. We dont dare to get too hopeful this early. Will report more later. On with the Update.... There were nine who made the trip to Mesa on the bus for the Easter Pageant and all report it was just wonderful from start to finish. They also had fun picking grapefruit. They liked that too. Maybe next year we can take two buses and more of us will go. Also wanted to tell you the bus will be going to Page Thursday, April 18. We are to take sack lunches. The bus will start picking up at 8:30 a.m. Call early for reservations. We can take two buses if needs be. Dont forget our potluck dinner which will be Tuesday, April 16 at How about 6:30 p.m. Beverly always something special for us so keep date in mind. It is always the Tuesday of each month. See there.
