Beat sugar and oil; add eggs separately. Add flour mixture alternatively with milk and vanilla to egg mixture. Bake in greased 9 square pan at 350 for 30 minutes or until done. Variations: Use honey, molasses or brown sugar instead of sugar; substitute dates or nuts for raisins. BRAN MUFFINS egg 1 cup milk 2 Tbsp vegetable oil 1 Vj cups bran cereal (100 bran, not flakes Vi cup unbleached flour Vi cup whole wheat flour 3 tsp baking powder ' tsp salt ' cup sugar, brown sugar or honey Beat together first three ingredients. Stir in bran cereal and let stand 5 minutes. Sift together flours, baking powder and salt. Add bran mixture and sugar or honey, stirring until just combined; do not overmix (or they will turn into tuffins, as my little girl called my first overbeaten disaster). District manager G. William Lamb indicated that Robert Roudabush from BLMs state office in Phoenix will explain Arizona water rights. A discussion of the new grazing regulations is also included on the agenda, said Lamb. The meeting, open to the public, will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, April 26, in the downstairs banquet room of the Sugar Loaf restaurant in St. George, Utah. The Utah History Fair is sponsored by the Utah State Office of Education and involves all grades from the fourth through the twelfth grades in the counties of Washington, Iron, Kane, and Garfield. Valley took first place w ith a model of the old "Fort Kanab which was made of native mud and willows by Justin Heaton, Jeremy Chamberlain and Jeff Cox. Second place went to Valley as well with the model of the old Woollen Factory which was located on the Thomas Chamberlain property at Hidden Lake, just north of the woolen of Glendale. factory was entered by Cody McDonald and Tyler Brinkerhoff. In the Utah History Live Performance Section, Valley took second place with a musical number sung by Lisa Sorensen, Julie Ann Cox, Elvis Bryan, Annette Palmer and Lori Esplin. The group sang the "Soup Song" which was written by the late Arvilla Heaton with music composed C. Lamb, both of by Lorene was Orderville. Display showing the history of Robinson's Ranch at Skutumpah. B. Replica and history of Valley Hill where for years graduating classes have painted their graduation year. C. A replica of the United Order. D. A display of Kane County Coal mines. E. History and display telling of the automobile in Kane County. F. Replica of the United Order's Grist Mill, which was located in Glendale. G. A display of Cheese Making as it was done in Kane County. Class members selected their topics early in the schoolyear and have been doing research on their projects and working on them since that time. This group of young students now have a better understanding and a greater appreciation for the early settlers who made Kane County.
