The class Is taught by James Glover who is working under the direction of Mrs. Karen Alvey, local JTPA administrator. These students are members of an adult Business Class sponsored by Kane County School District through the Job Training Partnership Act. Classes are held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. The goals of this adult class are to train people for entry level skills so they can compete in the job market. Skills they are learning include: typewriting, accounting, word processing, electronic Tag wrestling? Even though his Wolves bowed to a 15-- Thunderbird team Coach Larry Shurtliff must have been very proud of his e Enterprise kids. No doubt the Wolves gave away height and experience, but never courage. In a contest, Greg Allens Birds finally slipped by the d gutty Wolves, who actually Piute in the last quarter even with all their starters out of the contest on fouls. Senior Mike Millett paced the Thunderbirds with 19 points, but freshman Larry Shurtliff of Enterprise matched him with 19. Sophomore Ken Gentrys 17 points matched Piutes Leslie Nays 16. Shaun Shurtliff had 14 for Enterprise, and Marty Gleave potted 15 for Piute. The big crowd loved it. Their coach, Ferrel Heaton, was very pleased at how the girls performed and also appreciated all the fans who traveled to Green River to cheer them on. The Buffalo girls basketball team totaled up a record of 15 wins and three losses and third place in the' State. The team was honored at a dinner at the high school last night, with special recognition for the only senior on the team, Gwen Crosby. Although basketball season is over, the girls are keeping in shape with early morning interamurals. Then they will begin training for track, with the first meet slated for April 14 in Page, Ariz. Friday, our boys basketball team and most of the students went to Kanab for the Round Robin. The Buffaloes played against Gunnison and lost, after leading for the first half. We hope for better luck this week. This has been another busy week. Monday the FFA hosted the Region FFA Public Speaking contest, with teams from Beaver, Milford and several other schools here. Dane Campbell won first place in both prepared speech and impromptu and our Legislative Forum team tied for second. Tuesday, students from throughout Region 12 came to Valley for the Solo - Ensemble competition. It was a special treat to have this kind of musical performance here. Join us Friday March 16 for both of these special events. See ya next week! School speech students traveled to Dixie College for the Region Forensics Meet. Our students did an excellent job, ending the meet just one point behind first place winner. Enterprise. Eight students from Valley are going to State: Mike Norton and Mike Brinkerhoff in n Lincoln-Dougla- s debate; Dione and David Stroud in Extempo; Jill Cardon and Wendy Crosby in Impromptu; and Lewis Cox andDane Campbell in Legislative Forum. The meet started at 8:30 in the morning and ended at 9 oclock that night. The next day, Valleys Drill team went to Beaver for the Region 12 Marching Competition. Thirty students also went along to cheer for them, and several mothers helped with the make-u- p and costumes. Valley didn't place but they worked very hard and were glad to have had the opportunity. The Buffalettes did four marches: Military, Jazz, Prop, and Novelty. The competition started at 6 at' night until 11, so the Buffalettes and fans didn't get home until 2 oclock in the morning. It was a tiring day and a long ride home.
