December 1, 1983 - Page Four Southern Utah rji SOCIETY PAGE LLL Plans Fair The Ladies Literary League will hold their annual Country Fair, which is a library benefit, at the Kanab Elementary School on December 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be 16 booths to buy from. Santa will be there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for picture taking, and there will be food, baked goods, candy and popcorn balls. Come buy your lunch. Cartoons for the children will be show ing from 10 to 3, 25 cents per ticket. This is one of the countys biggest events and the proceeds will go to both the public and elementary school library. Texas, by her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Larry N. Leavitt, former Kanab residents, now of Paris, Texas. Tim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Maloy of Sumner, Texas. Sharee is a 1982 Paris High graduate and attends Paris Junior College where she is a member of Chamber Singers, Show Choir, and Chorale. Tim attended North Lamar High, Ricks College and is presently Wedding attending Paris Junior College. Tim served an LDS mission in Fresno, California and is currently employed by Titan Homes in Honey Grove, Texas. The new couple have chosen to seal their love for time and all eternity in the LDS Mesa Temple on Dec. 17, 1983. A reception will be held in their honor on Dec. 22 at the cultural hall in Paris at 7 p.m. All their friends are cordially invited to attend. Husband of Kanab Native Dies in South Dakota Family members attended the funeral services for Lyle T. Lanp-herhusband of Arleen Bunting Lamphere, held Tuesday, Nov. 22, in Rapid City, South Dakota. e, Those attending were Preston Bunting and sons Ronnow, James and George, and daughter, Addie Lou Vaughn. Lyle Lanphere died while at work on a highway construction site in South Dakota. He was born Feb. 18; 1934 at Kimball, Nebraska, the son of Lyle and Anita Lanphere. He grew up in the Kimball area and later attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie. He married Arlene Bunting Oct. OLDIES & 1 1, 1958 in Kanab, Utah. The couple resided for three years in Hardin, Mont., then moved to Rapid City where they have lived since 1966. He was a long time employee of the South Dakota Highway Department. Lanphere was a member of the LDS Church, the American Association of Retarded Citizens and Elks Lodge 1187. Judd Honored In Fredonia Services Olive Brooksby Judd, age 86, died November 27, 1983 in Kanab. Mrs. Judd was born Oct. 2, 1897 in Richfield, Utah to William James and Emma Hobbs Brooksby. She married Warren Dart Judd Sept. 15, 1926 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Olive was postmistress in Fredonia for 40 years. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as assistant superintendent and secretary of the Sunday School and as a Primary teacher. She loved hand work and quilting and enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. She is survived by her husband of Fredonia, and children: Warren V,r Judd of Layton, Alhin Judd of Paragonah, Alma B. Judd of Mesa, Arizona; Keith Judd of Fredonia, Tharon V. Judd of Orem. Mrs. Alma (Darlene) Bastian of Sigurd, and Lawrence D. Judd of Yamhill, Ore., 44 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, 1983 at 1 p.m. in the Fredonia LDS chapel, where friends may call from 11:30 until time of services. Harl returned to Cedar City and taught at the College of Southern Utah for a while. Then he worked on his Ph.D. with the help from a National Defense Department grant, SUSC. In Harls career at SUSC he has been the Dean of Science for 11 South Bend, Ind. He was preceded in death by his father. All who are interested are cordially invited to attend. Fredonia News Charrena Hoyt visited her parents, Errol and Gorene Hoyt, over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Charrena is a student at SUSC. The Fredonia Senior Citizens enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner on the 23rd. Homebound seniors were taken to the dinner at the county building to join those who regularly eat there.
