Swlger, Scty. Property Owner of KCR Committee for Annexation An Information Meeting was sponsored by the Property Owners of KCR Committee for Annexation at the KCR Firehouse on Sat., March 28, 1981. The guest speaker was Attorney Russell A. Cannon of Salt Lake City. Mr. Cannon outlined some of the information included in the Utah State Code with respect to subdivisions and annexation with special attention to the procedures to follow in requesting the Kanab City Council to consider annexation of the and the Ranchos that tions; presenting these petitions to the City Council; receiving data from the Council on their requirements for annexation; holding discussion meetings between the interested parties; and finally submitting the annexation proposition to all the Property Owners of the Ranchos for voting. Faced with the expiration of the present Water Agreement to supply SURPLUS water to the Ranchos on Jan. 1, 1983 or even the possibility of the termination of the Contract at an earlier date, it is vital to the best interests of both the City mutually agreeable and benethe problem be reached at the earliest possible date. The preliminary engineering report of the Creamer & Noble Co. for the Water Planning Board is a step forward in the development and improvement of the total water system. However, without annexation even this will leave the Ranchos on SURPLUS water. Three subdivificial solution to sions have already been annexed to the City since the Ranchos was started and presentations have already been made to the City County Supervisor Reports to Fredonia Brechan County Supervisor, District 1 Starting this week and every two weeks thereafter, I will try to keep you on whats happening on Coconino County government. The biggest news now are we are going to the have to make in the next two months in order to keep our county budget in the black. It is quite likely that our county departments are going to have to operate on smaller budgets in 1981-8than they are now. We have placed a freeze on all new positions and if vacancies do occur, they can only be filled if we supervisors feel they are essential positions to our county operation. I expect this freeze will remain in effect at least through 1981 . We are hopeful the State Legislature will come to the county's aid in helping us in our indigent medical program. We are not too bad off but we will be short in this department come June 30. Your Board of Supervisors will be revising eligibility rules in this area in April and we will tighten these rules hoping to eliminate individuals that we feel should not be taking this money away from our blind, handicapped and elderly people. If the State would stop mandating programs to the counties with no money attached to them to carry them out, we wouldn't be bad off as far as finances are concerned. We invite any of you to visit our offices at our regular meetings when you are in Flagstaff. We meet on the first and third Mondays at 10:00 o'clock in our new Administrative building, just east of our County jail. Our meetings are open to the public. by Bill cut-bac- XI Delna Major of Kanab recently received word from her son. V West Center Kanab, Utah 1 1 j I Dear Editor: I would like to respond to the comments Ive heard and read about the posters rubbing Kanab about the Valley win at the State Tournament. The Valley Buffalo team proved that they were the State Champs but a few of our fans failed to act like State Champs by placing posters in very poor taste. Believe me, those fans are in the scant minority and we appreciate the support our team received from the Kanab crowd. State tournament victories are far and few between for our end of the State so please lets support each other when we reach that point. Rivalry between schools is a fact of life and brings many good things but there are always a few who try to ferment emotions beyond that of rivalry. So if Kanab will ignore our "bad apples well try to ignore yours. This past weekend several members of the Kanab High School Speech' and Debate team traveled to Provo to compete in the annual State Forensics tournament which was held at B.Y.U. this year.
