Show 1- - Weather Courtesy ri Kif h"l m wxsmgmw Pretty pesters call attention to Christmas concert WHa j Residents around Kanab will be aware of Ute very beautiful posters which are advertising the Kanab Youth Choir Christmas program which is scheduled for December 7 at 7 p.m. In the Kanab Elementary school. Members of the choir were requested to make posters and with a little Incentive of cash prizes they came up with some very unusual and beautiful designs. The concert will follow the theme of "Christmas Bells Are Ringing," and will get local residents into theChristmas spirit. The choir has been rehearsing for several months and the program promises to be one of the outstanding events of the Christmas season. The poster contest was divided Into three sections, or age groups. Judges were members of Mr. Tyrol Dennett's Tuesday night ait class. The public Is cordially Invited to attend the concert and admission will be by donations. Directing the activities of the choir have been Mrs. Kay Reber, Mrs. Patsy Clarkson and Mrs. Betty Leavitt. Several Kanab High School football players received all state recognition this year from the two Salt Lake City newspapers, following their triumphant season, which culminated In the first Class 1A state championship In Kanals his- tory. The Deseret News was the first to come out with their choice of All Staters and Kit Janes, Greg Glazier, Kirby Erickson and Eric Johnson there, mention noteworthy Janes was chosen as most valuable player in the Class 1A with Glazier named all state quarterback and Erickson as all state split end. Johnson was named to the second team defensive line. The Newss choice (or lack of choice) as far as the Cow. boys were concerned was some- what disappointing to Cowboy fans who naturally felt the local club deserved more recognition but than maybe we should choose The Southern our own Utah News would choose Its but fear it might be com- all-sta- te. all-sta- te, Brian Head set offensive end. With the season behind now, its fun to look bask at all the high spots and ail the great plays that brought the Cowboys champion- As we look back at the year, we realize there are several Cowboys wto didnt ordinarily get tbeir names in the paper, who actually are Just as deserving of honor as are these The offensive line In particular dont seem to get much praise. Their job often goes unnoticed. They dont get to tackle much, so you dont bear of them there. They dont get to carry the ball or catch a pass, so you dont hear of them there either. What they do is open holes in the defensive line so the backfield men can move the ball ahead, and they protect their quarterback when he Is passing. Often taking a heck of a beating, bit getting little mention are the linemen, particularly of the offensive unit. So here we want to take this last opportunity and mention the fine play of some of these boys during this champAmong them ionship yean would be Marc Fox, Matt Russell Johnson, Jeff Rhees, Danny Church and Raj inond Chavez. Some of these players were on both offensive and defensive and have had mention for their fine work in stopping the opposition, bit without the efforts of all members of the team such glory at Class 1A champions would not be so our hats are off possible to the entire team as we write the final chapter on the 1974 football season. ship.
