We were driven through the mine and observed their leeching process, which Is an Interesting way of securing valuable minerals. Following the mine tour, we enjoyed a steak dinner at the Copper Golf Club at Magna. Then we moved on to the smelter where D.A. Kinneberg, smelter plant superintendent described the operations and took us on a small-grotour through the smelter, I had been to the smelter once before but this tour was very much more comprehensive than the first one, covering many areas where the general public very rarely gets. It was extremely Interesting. Then following the tour of the smelter we had a more detailed briefing on environmental problems of the company. Dr. Robert J. After visiting the "BlgCity" over the weekend, I was reminded of a deficiency in our local area, which we once had, and which could again be a good thing from several angles. Thats a Safety Patrol, for local crosswalks, or better marking for the crosswalks or some such thing. Recently a youngster was struck In a crosswalk, and It bad happened once In a while over the past years. It would be well worth the effort and probably would not be a great expense to do something. The city marshal at once time did watch and help at the main crosswalk in Kanab, but this doesnt seem to be anymore.
