The program will include information and ideas presented to stake leaders during the churchs general June Conference held in Salt Lake City, June In addition to MIA workers, members of the stake presidency, stake high council, elders quorum presidencies and any other interested persons are invited to participate. Clarkson president of the YMMIA, and Joy Jordan, president of the YWMIA, along with members of the Stake Board. 23-2- Kanab news notes I Ellen Kernell and Laura McAllister recently returned from a bus trip to the eastern United States. The trip included visits to Niagra Falls, New York City, Washington D.C., Chciago, the famous Mormon Hill Cumorah Pageant at Palmyra, N. Y., and many other places of interest in Church history and national monuments. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Brown, of Flagstaff, Ariz., visited the Myron Brown family at Jacob Lake, and the Doyle Smith family for a few days. Their children, Gina and Michel returned home with the Browns after spending several weeks visiting here with their grandparents. Vaughn Anderson and Charles Zielinski beth of Kanab, were elected to office when the Utah State Jeep Search and Rescue Asconsociation held a three-daclave in Montecello last week. Zielinski was elected treasurer of the state association, and Anto his third derson was term as district director of District Three. Both were the only members of Kane County unit the to attend. There are 793 members in the Utah branch of the association. Glen Murray, of Tooele, was elected commander of the group term. First vice for the 1972-7commander is San Tebbs of Davis County, and Jim Paxton, Nephi, is the second vice commander. Ralph Anderton of Rich, field, will be secretary for the chapter, and Dave Lotman, Grand County, was elected quartermaster. Elder was deputy state auditor until May 10, when he filed as a candidate for State Auditor. District Court of Utah challenging a state law that prohibits employees of the state covered by the merit system from becoming a candidates for public office. Registration for high school students will get underway Monday. Seventh graders will register from 8:30-1a.m., eighth graders from a.m., ninth graders from noon. In the afternoon they will buy their books, and get their lockers. On August 29, tenth graders will a.m., eleventh register from a.m., and sengraders from noon. In the afteriors from noon they will get their books and locker assignments. Classes will start officially at 8:30 Wednesday, August 30. Seventh and eighth graders will be charged $4.00 for the activity fee, and students in grades nine-1will be charged $6.00 for theirs. The elementary student activity fee will be 50 cents this year. Students are reminded that a $1.50 fee is charged for both a hall and physical education locker this year. A laboratory fee is also charged those taking a course where a lab is required. It is estimated by the Utah State Board of Education that more than 300,000 school age youngsters will be in classes throughout the state this year. A staff of approximately 12,000 teachers will be in Utah classrooms. For most students Monday, September 4, will be a legal holiday for Labor Day.
