KANAB DRUG before you decide on MOM'S SPECIAL REMEMBRANCE HALLMARK CARDS Mrs. Edna Mae Chamberlain Lamb, 86, died in the Kane County Hospital at about 1 a.m. Friday, May 1 of natural causes. She had been in rather poor health for several years. Mrs. Lamb was born in Order-vill- e to Thomas and Ellen Carling Chamberlain, June 7, 1883 and most of her early life was spent there. Her parents had lived in the United Order and still lived in Orderv'lle wher most of their children were born. When Edna was of high school age the family moved to Kanab in order for her to continue her education. At the age of 20 and in June of 1903 she was married to Edward Thomas Lamb of Order-vill- e and came back to the Valley to live. To this union was born three sons and four daughters. Flora died in infancy and Ila died as a small child. The surviving sons and daughters are, Verdell of Sacramento, Calif., Perry of Orderville; Mrs. Wilford (Iola) Leany of Hurricane; Mont of Sunnyside, Wash., and Mrs. Wilbur (Vonna) Covington of Mt. Carmel. Also 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Mrs. Annie C. Esplin of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Maurine Jones of Kanab; and Lyle Chamberlain of Hidden Lake. A brother Guy Chamberlain of Kanab passed away just three days after she died. Also surviving are nine half brothers and sisters. Edna Mae had to work hard as a girl, she being the oldest in the family and helping her mother care for the younger brothers and sisters which included several half brothers and sisters who had lost their own mother and were taken into Ednas home. John Reese; opening hymn, by the Abide Ward Singing Mothers, With Me; invocation by Verdel E. Lamb; remarks, Bemeeta Eeckwith; Tribute, Patsy Leany; vocal duet by Luvera Spencer and Lorene Russell, Whispering Hope. Hans Chamberlain, Speaker, vocal solo, Lasca Chamberlain, Wonderful Mother of Mine; remarks, Bp. John R .ese; closing hymn, singing mothers, Peace I Leave With You"; benediction by Lyle Chamberlain. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Wilbur Covington. Fredonia Ward sets Lillie Buckaroo rodeo for May All the excitement 15-1- 6 of a rootin tootin, bucking rodeo will come to the area next weekend, May 15 and 16 when the Fredonia LDS Ward sponsors a L.ittle Buckaroo Rodeo. Set to begin at 5 p.m. (Arizona time) at the CCC corrals in Fredonia, the event promises to be thrilling for the young participants and extremely exciting for the spectators. Calf roping and riding along with pony riding and other rodeo events will be enjoyed by entrants spectators alike. Special events will include chariot races, cart before the horse, pony polo, greased pig chase, cow milking contest, Shetland colt roping for youngsters under six, and others. Everyone in the area is invited to enjoy the weekend of rodeo activities at Fredonia May 9. Funeral services were conducted in Kanab Tuesday May 5 for Guy Chamberlain, 77, who died May 3 in the Kane County Hospital of natural causes. Mr. Chamberlain was born at Hidden Lake Ranch, north of Glendale July 10, 1S92 to Thomas and Ellen Carling Chamberlain. He married Vera Heaton June 28, 1917 in the Manti LDS Temple. He has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ all his life and has served as a stake high councilman, stake mission president, and he and his wife e mission for the filled a Church in the Kentucky area. He worked at many vocations during his lifetime being a sheepman, dairyman, farmer and businessman. He built the first tourist accommodation in Kanab when he built and operated the Kanab Hotel. He comes from a polygamous family and was always proud of the fact that he had 55 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his widow, sons and daughters, Garth, Guy Cloyd, Mrs. LaDonna Hamblin all Kanab; Jonathon N., Helper; Thomas N., both Hidden Hills, Calif.; Mrs. Mark Lynn (Avon) Cutler, Concord, Calif.; 32 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Of his 55 brothers and sisters he is survived by: Lyle, Hidden Lake; Hans, LaMar, Mark, all Orderville; Dee, California; Carl, Ogden; Mrs. Maurine Jones, Kanab; Mrs. Leola Brinkerhoff, Springville; Mrs. Annie C. Esplin, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Rita Carrol, Fillmore; Mrs. Lucy C. Esplin, Cedar City; Mrs. Amanda Pugh, Washington. Funeral services were conducted by Bishop Wayne H. Robinson of the Kanab South Ward and were as follows: Family Prayer by Johathan Chamberlain; prelude and postlude music, Julia Young, Alga Brown and Elva Judd; invocation, Claud Glazier; remarks by Priel George. The combined North and South Ward Choir gave Mews notes from Alt. Carmel Bishop John A. Reese went to Salt Lake City Saturday where he was called as a timer for a track meet at the Highland High School. His daughter Angie accompanied him. the opening hymn, Let Us Oft Speak Kind Words; speaker, Bishpo Dan M. Ogden; vocal solo, Neil Crosby, 'Somewhere My Love. Speaker, President J. Ballard Washburn; vocal quartet, Preston Brooksby, Val Jackson, LeRoy Judd and Neil Crosby, Love at Home; benediction by Lamond Chamberlain. Interment was in the Kanab City Cemetery and Lyle Chamber-lai- n dedicated the grave. The Dee Anderson family college. Mr. and Mrs. Verdell Lamb of Calif, were called Sacramento, to St. George for the funeral of Mrs. Lambs nephew, Mr. Bowler who was killed in a car accident. The night following the funeral, Verdells aged mother Mrs. Edna Lamb passed away in the Kane County Hospital. The day before Sister Lambs funeral, her brother, Guy Chamberlain, also passed away in the Kane County Hospital. This made three of the Chamberlain family having died in the past six months. Robert Chamber-laihaving died in November leaving but 12 of the 56 children of Thomas Chamberlain. District Manager at Bullfrog transfers C. E. Johnson, Superintendent, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, announced the transfer of Mr. Elmer E. (Al) Truloc.k, Bullfrog District Manager to Mount Rainier National Park effective May 3, 1970. Mr. Trulock began his National Park Service career in 1963 as a seasonal ranger at Yellowstone National Park. He accepted his first permanent appointment in 1964 at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. In 1968, Al transferred to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area as a District Ranger at Bulifrog Basin, Utah. He later was appointed as a District Manager for tha Bullfrog District which- encompasses the area from the San Juan River to the northernmost point of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Al and his wife Dorothy will reside in the White River District in Mount Rainier. Mr. and Mrs. Theo Tait of Kanab visited his mother, Lavenia Tait Monday. Kirk Covington and girl friend Linda Johnson, were here Monday to visit his parents the Wilbur Covingtons and to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Edna Lamb. Mr. and Mrs. Delyn Roundy and small son, of Panguitch, visited her parents the LaMar DeMilles Sunday. Mrs. Mona Reese as 9th grade supervisor, took her class on a school trip to Zion Park Saturday. They reported having had a lovely time and enjoyed the beauty of the advance springtime and the enjoyable weather there. Our leader, Virginia Esplin, explained the recipes and then we went to work on grilled cheese sandwiches and deviled eggs. The food was delicious.
