Mrs. Maurine Jones just returned to Kanab after spending three weeks in Torrance, Calif., and area, with her daughter Janice and her husband Vern Blanchard and family. Carlos Judd recently traveled to Provo to attend the wedding reception for his twin grand- daughters, Thea and Rhea. The two girls were married on dates but held their reception jointly. It was a well attended affair. The twins are daughters of Lynn and Nellie dif-er- ent Asay of Provo. Fredonia news happenings by Don Ellison Staff Sgt Art McKinney, who has been visiting here with his mother and brother Steve, left Monday for Phoenix where he will take a plane back to Vietnam. Arts mother, Mrs. Vonda Cram, took him to Phoenix. Art plans to make a career in the military service and now has approximately six years of creditable service. He is assigned to the 189th Assault Helicopter Company as Flight Operations Chief. He is presently stationed at Camp Ilalloway, Pleiku, Vietnam which is in the Central Highlands area. Pfc Walter Cluff who has been stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, is spending a few days leave at home with his mother, Mrs. Veda Cluff, before reporting to Ft. Dx, New Jersey for shipment to Germany. Walter is in the Army Signal Corps and just completed a special course-a- t Ft, Gordon,' Ga. iri radio' and electronic, and was an honor graduate from this course. Carl Cluff left for Mesa lost Sunday where he will enroll in the Mesa Community Junior College. Merrill U., Button made a business trip to Flagstaff January 2 and 3n. Work is sijll progressing on the Fredonia tWard LDS Chapel and the Ward Bishopric has set January 30 as the completion date for this project. Projects to be completed include ceiling tile on the classrooms and hallway, floor tile in the hallways and chkpel, new benches set up in the chapel, and lighting fixtures installed. There is still much work to be done to complete this project, but it is believed that we can meet he completion date. $S,703. The average salary of the 40 districts 77 administrators (superintendents and assistant sup1938-6erintendents) fbr school term is $14,687. The average contracted salary for classroom teachers is above $7,200 in nine of the 40 districts and belcw $6,400 in two districts. Districts above the $7,200 mark are Salt Lake Cty, $7 413; 9 $7,207. The lowect average salaries reported in Duchesne Dis- trict, $3,232, ard in Park City, $3,324. Some other averages: Alpine, Davis, $6 974; Granite, Jordan, ' $7,014; Provo, and Murray, $6,659. (Districts with a higher proportion of teachers on maximum pay tend ID have the highest average salaries, even their ugh salary schedules may be lower). $7 083; $6,996; $6,708; t. District Granite employs the most classroom teachers, 2,299, by a wide margin. In second place is Davis District, 1,265, followed by Salt Lake City, 1,239, according to FTE figures. School News Kanab High by Janeil Crosby KHS is getting back into the swing of things after the Christmas holidays. However, there are a lot of absences due to the flu bug which is visiting our community. The Cowboys will meet Enterprise here Jan. 10. Speaking of our great team, we surely are proud of that victory over at Cedar. Time is flying by and we are now ending another term. The second term ends January 17, and the third term begins on the 20th. Next week the 13th to the 17th, has been designated as test week.
