Pickett, Democratic candidate for Attorney General, announced this week that he is taking a leave of absence from has position of Assistant Attorney General and Chief Counsel for the State Road Commission. Pickett pointed out that, while there was no legal mandate requiring him to do so, he felt the public was entitled to weigh his candidacy for the office without having to pay his salary at the same time. Because of the vital nature of his work with the Road Commission, Pickett agreed to lend his continued advice and efforts to the Commission as time permits throughout the campaign, to insure no slowdown in the highly complicated legal affairs required to keep Utahs vital are faced with many vital issues in the 1968 campaign.
