Approximately 30 people their Defensive Driving Course Thursday evening. This is a very worthwhile class and I would advise anyone who has the opportunity to take the clas. I would like to thank the patrolman who took the time to give this course to us and the Coral Sands Lions Club for sponsoring it. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lamb visited in Fredonia and Moccasin Sunday afternoon. Mrs. May Heaton returned home with them to visit for awhile. About our service boys Burke Lee Sorensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burke Soren-enwent into the service Aug. 28, 1966. He reported to Fort Douglas. From there, he went to Ft. Lewis, Wash., reaching there Aug. 31. He received his basic training there then went to Ft Polk, La., Nov. 5. From there he went to Ft Knox, Kentucky, in Jan of 1967 for three weeks training. He left for Viet Nam March 7, 1937 with the First Inf. Div. In June, 1967, he was transfered to a ranger division of the First Infantry. In Sept, he was transferred to Headquarters Ranger Division where he wa? until he came home last week. Lee has worked with the helicopters a lot. He was made Spc.4 in Sept of 67 and Jan. 1, 1968 he was made Sgt. It is sure good to have Lee home. He reports to Missouri when his leave is finished. Dellas II. Sorensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burke Sorensen, went into the service July 25, 1967, first to Ft. Douglas arriving at Ft. Lewis, Wash., July 27, where he took his basic training at ATC and then he has had 14 weeks of special training. He is expected home for his first furlough any day. Then his entire outfit is to go to Viet Nam. Word was received here Tuesday by Mr. and Mrs. Elbem Sorensen of the biith cf a grandson. The proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Kyran Sorensen of fin-she- d Granger. This 1? their first child. Congratulations, Diane and Kyran. Kyran came down Wednes, day and got his Mrs. Eva Prisbrey of Glendale to help care for the new infant. mother-in-law- Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lamb were in Kanab and Panguitch Tuesday on business. Lee Sorensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burke Sorensen, is home on furlough after being in Viet Naw. , Quinn Newby was hospitalized all week but came home Saturday. Its good to have her back. Mi's. Forensic Speech meet was at Valley High School Thursday with many schools participating. Mrs. Carl Johnson of Beryl visited here Thursday. Mrs. Merrill Clark spent most of the week here looking after their business. Mr. and Mrs. Weston Ball and eon of Idaho, and Cheryl Adair from BYU visited at the Webster Adairs over the weekend. Rampton last week caid he has been notified by Paramounut Pictures that Blue, a western adventure-drama filmed near Moab last summer, will be premiered April 23 in Salt Lake City. The governor said he was informed by the studio that major members of the Blue cast, including Terence Stamp, Joanna Pettet, Karl Malden, Ricardo Mcntalfcan and Stathis Gialleis, will fly in for the world premiere at the Utah Theatre. Also expected to appear at the premiere showing are the films Judd Bernard, director Silvio Narizzano and other key production personnel. Governor Rampton said Paramount plans to bring approximately 40 journalists, representing major newspapers, syndicates, magazines and broadcast outlets throughout the world, to' the premiere. He said the premiere and ac companying events will be arranged through the cooperation of the Utah Travel Council and Utah Industrial Promotion Commission. Although Utah has been in the motion picture industry for more than three decades, Blue was the first film filmed entirely within the state, it was pointed out. Most motion pictures filmed in Utah have returned to Hollywood studios for interior filming or moved to other areas with different scenery. Blue interiors were filmed in Utah location sets. Gov. Rampton said Blue was one of six major motion pictures filmed in Utah during 1937, one of the stales best film production years. In addition to Blue, Paramount filmed Fade In in Moab. starring Burt Reynolds and Barbara Laden. United Artists and Wolper Productions filmed The Devil's Brigade, staring William Holden and Vincent Edwards, in end. Mr. and Mrs. Elbem Sorensen and son Doug went to Salt Lake City Saturday to see their new grandson and nephew, returning home Sunday evening. Some of the townspeople attended the sophomore tournament held in Escalante Friday and Saturday. Some of the people here attended the funeral service? for Ella W. Chamberlain held in Kanab Saturday afternoon. Many of the ward members attended the Stake Gold and Green Ball held in Kanab Saturday night. The Melody Misses" under the direction of Lamb presented two numbers in the flood show. They should be commended for the beautiful music they give at various entertainments. Also Mrs. Lamb should be complimented for the many hours she spends helping these young people develop their talents. They the Salt Lake area, moving to Europe briefly for location filming. Gov. Rampton said the motion picture and television industry contributes from six to eight million dollars annually to the Utah economy in wages, rentals, food, lodging and miscellaneous services. The motion picture industry is promoted each year by several individuals, southern Utah chambers of commerce and state . agencies. Recently, in Kanab, Moab and comaccom-medat- 6 Tree Nursery Offers Evergreens For Windbreaks Christmas The Utah State Forery and Fire Control Section operates a tree nursery located at Green Canyon some three miles north of Logan This nursery provides trees and shrubs to persons wanting to plant windbreaks around farm and ranch property and also to persons interested in raising Christmas trees for profit. The seedlings mostly one to three year old are lifted from the ground during April, bundled and prepared for shipping to applicants. The small charge for these trees is from $4.00 to $8,00 per hundred trees. Richard S. Grceland, Utah State Area Forester at Richfield announced that information concerning the program may be secured from any of the County Extension Offices, Forest Service, Soil Conservation Service or Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Offices within a County. 1968 tree and shrub seedling application forms can secured from the County Extension Service Office within a county or from his Office Room 146 14, Professional Building, North Main Street, Richfield. Applications should be made in the near future to insure shipment of the seedlings in bp April. Maxwell and his mother, Mrs. Ivy Maxwell, went to Phoenix and Mesa, Ariz., the past week on business and to see relatives. Among the relatives they saw were Mr'. Mary A. Brinkerhoff, Mae Black Randall and Pearl Black Carpenter. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pris-biereceived word of a new grandson, bom to Kyran and Diane Sorenson, on March 6. The new toy we'ghed in a 6 lbs. and 3 oz. Mrs. Prisbrey went to Salt Lake City this week to help care for the new baby. Visiting here this week were: Mr. and M:s.
